Yerr, I used to have one.....It was called a Ford Laser or sometimes a Mazda 323. Sorry, thats a bit harsh. There was a guy in Perth selling one on one of those internet car sales sites. About $14,000.

1992-1995 around then.....i thought they were an all wheel drive with the cossie 2l.....and i thought it looked more like the sierra than a laser

Yes, the Escort Cosworth does look like the Sierra with the flared guards and whale tail, but the "plain jane" model love pretty much like a KF Laser.
Cossie Escorts can be picked up for around $60,000 mark (down from $100,000+) a few years ago when a queensland firm were bringing them in. I know of a couple in Queensland and I think Rob Roy Garage had one for a while. Basically, this is about the only model worth buying from that period. They were seriously quick in their day and expensive....about 25,000 POUNDS!!! |

I doubt you'd find a Mk5 in Oz except for the Cosworths, I'm actually having a hard time picturing them. I've seen a few Mk3's (literally a few, say 6) mostly in Perth.
Because they were built post 1989 you would have a big job on your hands getting one imported and on the road here. |

seen the same mk3 convertable come up on eBay several times now......why would no1 want it???? and i only have pics of RS2000 and Cossies so i havent seen a plain mk5.....any pics????

Ford in Britain by Martin Rawbone is a good book and worth a look. I'd have a few pictures kicking around, I'll try and dig one up. Frankly, the general road cars from that period weren't much to look at. Even the hot hatches of the day were generally pretty sedate. I sold a diff to a guy recently with a Fiesta RS1800 (probably the only one in the country) and you'd just walk past it in a car-park. Very plain but would tear strips off any old school RS.
