Default Autolite 985

While doing some seaches on spark plugs and several people are happy with the JMM autolites which I think are P/N 985. I found they suit the DodgeR/T Viper V10 mtr. Is the plug JMM uses that P/N if so that would be why it performs well. Plus I might get a set.

I dont think its just a matter of "it fits a viper so its going to be the best" otherwise we would all be using the same plugs they use in ferrari's. Its simple a matter of the temperature rating of the plug, the gap, the intensity of the spark, and alot of trial and error on jim mocks part.

And yes I believe it is the exact same plug they use in the Viper from Autolite.

I have them in mine, they work well enough. I would go as far as to say that they certainly havent caused any power loss thats for sure.

It makes sense that the Viper mtr is a low rev big torque monster that dumps heaps of fuel simular to the ford sixes good torque & runs rich. I gather they are a hotter running plug?

The NGk iridium plugs have been in for about 70,000Kms in my VCT mtr & I was thinking of what to use next that is cheaper & works well on the mtr.

My son tried the NGK iridium plugs on his VL turbo ran ok until he used the high low switch for boost it started to missfire, he change back to the normal NGK plugs & the miss was gone at boost so even though they ran fine in my 6 the iridium plugs must be not that suitable for turbo's.

horses for courses mate. A plug that may be suitable for one application doesnt always lend itself to others as you have just found out. And while motors may share similar trends there are other things to consider such as how the engine management works, or if it is edited to alter fuel maps, timing, things like compression etc which all have to work together to avoid misfires, run on, ping and other nasties.

ive run NGK iridiums on my 6 and they worked very very well. Id probably argue that 100,000 from the plug is a bit optimistic but a decent product none the less.

Personally I had bought a set of ngk iridiums and my car went disgustingly slower .Then the new iridium NGK went straight into the garbage bin.

Okay just about to order the autolite plugs and the part listing i recieved was P/N :APP64 .
Is this correct as i believe it's a triple platinum spark plug for the au 6 ?????

The Jim Mock Motorsport DEV plugs are Autolite number 985.

They are OK they work I have an old set you can try if you want but I wouldn't stress about plugs too much just good stock plugs for an AUII will be fine.

champion rc12lyc are a replacement plug for autolite 985's so anyone used these? they are available at repco for $4.44 where as autolites cost $3.80x6+ $15 shipping from noelsautoparts. i can get for $4ea so should i get them?
and as far as leads go what are the best value for money that work well?

Leads comes into everything get what you pay for - budget brands top gun bosch eagle etc do the job fair prices.
