Default Interesting speeding defence...

Speeding driver claims 'it was a plane'
March 17, 2005

A MOTORIST accused of speeding claims a speed camera mistakenly detected a low-flying aircraft.

Andrew John Barlow was recorded travelling at 145km/h on the Nepean Highway outside a winery south of Melbourne on February 22.
On the same day, pilot Andrew Lott was at the winery operating joyflights from the winery's airstrip in his Cessna 182.

The plane's take-off speed is understood to be about 150km/h.

Mr Barlow is expected to fight the speeding charge at a court hearing scheduled for May. :

Popular myth or Legend about :dr_Evil: Bob's Revenue camera just before the Airport Runway tunnel in Mascot.

Supposedly for several months the camera was clocking 747's at take off and attaching their speeds to vehicles crossing the photo trip mat. :

If you saw it on the TV they showed the Planes runway parallel with the road... It could have just been the plane...

I remember reading something about a radar operator somehow locking onto a RAF figher and getting some stupid-high speed figures. No idea how, and if it was true but a possibility maybe?

Yeh I read about it too... it was overseas and the fighter plane actually locked on to the camera as a target... All the pilot had to do was push the big red button that says FIRE... :eclipsee_

Wouldnt be suprised if he gets off either, especially if he was booked at 145km/h and the planes takeoff speed is relatively similar at about 150km/h.

If it was a laser, then it will be very unlikely he will got off, but we will have to wait and see.
