I have started to notice that AU headlights that are faded and oxidised really let the appearance of the car down, maybe because they're so big?
Anyway, I have got the turtle wax headlight restorer kit, but it just doesn't seem to cut it, the headlights still look crap. Am I better to just by new units or is there an alternate remedy? |

Depending how badly they are faded, it may take a few goes with the restorer kit to get them back to how they should be....
Alternatively, using a machine polisher will speed up the process - something like Meguiar's PlastX which is designed for headlights will also help. If you're in Melbourne, I'd be happy to have a look at them for you and see if they're saveable...

No I'm not sorry, I'm on the other end of the east coast (Townsville, QLD)
I can see what looks like tiny little cracks in the plastic, and if they were save-able, I would split the case and lense and repaint the silver bezel, as that has faded. |

If you replace them ... don't get the "altezza-look" ones. They are garbage ... putting it nicely.
try and get genuine if you can.

The problem is the cost of genuine as well as second hand genuine will probably have the same issues. Yes, the altezza ones look crap!

I got my projector headlights for my AU from The Dok a long time ago.
Was back in 2004/5 ... when a few of us Sydneysiders came to Melbourne for the big AU meet-up in Albert Park. HLC now had those headlights ... probably best to ask him how they are going now in WA
