I was out at wizard as 2 of my mates were racing, did anyone see the funny car on fri night run through the sand trap and through the safty net. I didn't see much as i was down on the line but jeeze he's a lucky boy blowing through without his chute's. I can only imagine how he felt crossing the line and not being able to stop.

I was lucky enough to be part of a race team and was on the start line when Joe (Signorelli) crashed. Pretty scary when he was up on the wall.
That's our tow car in the background in the 3rd shot.

Leigh, that would have been Deno Zubritski <sp> in his top doorslammer on his run to top qualify with a 5.9**, through the gravel trap and into the fence.

It was a top weekend with plenty of close racing.

Deno Brijeski!!
I heard there was something like 6 or 7 5's coming out of the Door cars.

Shame about the GAS car it is an absolute peice of work. I guess when your trying to put down 2000hp these things happen.

Yeah, got that name screwed up.

5 Second passes-
John Zappia x 3
Deno Brijeski x 2
Kath Stevens x 1 in the consolation round.

Maurice Fabietti had holeshot wins against 2 5sec passes on his way to winning the final.

I was there all day, both days. (until about 11-30pm).
We were racing Group 2 and our pit bays were almost on Ferrers Rd.
The team had 5 cars in competition eliminator and superstock so we were pretty busy until we got eliminated. Even 7 sec rotors need a bit of maintenance between rounds. LoL.

I guess with the money the Group 1 competitors pour into the sport they deserve the premium pit positions.
They did well, runner up in Top Alcohol I think.

Just watched the video of Joe's crash above and three of our cars feature. That was the second round of qualifying.

Very true, drag racing certainly isn't a poor mans sport in any level.

Ah ok i was thinking of the cross roads Torana, Paul said he blew a head gasket & it pressureised the header tank and blew a seam spraying water all over the tires at the top end of the track. Clipped the wall once but no majour damage.
