FYI, it is done! Simpler system, no inspections required, and car over 30 years old (rolling 30 year cut-off). Does this mean you have to be in a car club to get historic registration or can you just wander down to the rego office apply and get your log book from them.

What I dont understand is this mangle of people supposedly running our state have actually come up with something sensible and intelligent.
Definetly wasn't handled by education, health, of business depts

This was a big win for sensibility.
Thankfully the Minister listened to the people. From his statement; Particular mention should be made of Glenn Stankevicius from the Street Machine Association of SA for his efforts in helping to make this happen. @StreetMachineAssociationOfSA @SportingCarClubOfSA @AustralianStreetRodFederationInc @NatMotorMuseum @CollectableClassics&CompleteAutoSolutions Interestingly there is NO mention of the fhmcsa who in my opinion were totally opposed to the new scheme that THEIR MEMBERS wanted.

In NSW you have the option of an inspection by a nominated member of the club or a pink slip.
As the Club plate Registrar of a NSW club I insist on a pink slip for cars, trucks & bikes as I do not have formal qualifications or suitable equipment, (hoist), for inspecting cars and trucks. We only allow self inspection for tractors This protects the club if it is found that an accident was caused by a mechanical fault. Most club members look after their vehicles and do the right thing, but a small minority will get away with anything they can.
