A lot of similarities between Brazil's auto industry and our own it would seem.
The government is trying to prop it up but to no avail. Ford is not alone in their losses there. Watch them all leave now just like what happened here. |

I suspect Brazil's labour and transport costs would be lower than Australia's.
Maybe the problem is Ford, they milk everyone's government for tax payer dollars then cut and run

I don't know why they stuck with Brazil production for so long. The One Ford plan to delete orphan cars was more than a decade ago, but Brazil was still building cars unique to their market, and losing money on every one they sold. They build cars in Argentina, so they probably already export the Ranger to Brazil from there.

Initially it was ok, because the small SUV market had barely started, but within a year or 2 when more upmarket small SUV's hit the market, like the CX3 etc, it suddenly looked massively out done. The Puma was a step in the right direction, cause it's designed for the more advanced nations. The Ecosport is now just used to sell in 3rd world countries. And the USA, which is becoming 3rd world very quickly
