Default Wheeler Dealers - Series 14

Apparently Wheeler Dealers starts again on the 4 /10.

Who will be watching it?

Here is a link to a Sneak Peek of Ant Anstead's mechanical work...

Love this show... an amazing amount of actual work gets shown and explained. Quite different to other shows of this type.

It was called For the Love of Cars with Phil Glenister. They did two series and all episodes were really enjoyable.

I love the show but not without Edd...

Here's why he left
Quote:
Unfortunately, on Velocity’s first attempt at producing the show they found Wheeler Dealers “too difficult to make”, “at least in its current format.”

In particular, the detailed and in depth coverage of my fixes in the workshop; what I consider to be the backbone and USP of the programme, are something Velocity feel should be reduced. The workshop jobs are certainly the hardest part of the show to make and reducing their substance and role in the show will save the production considerable time, effort and therefore money.

However, this new direction is not something I am comfortable with as I feel the corners I was being asked to cut compromised the quality of my work and would erode my integrity as well as that of the show, so I have come to the conclusion that my only option is to let Velocity get on with it, without me.

The most enjoyable part of any car show is seeing the ins and outs of cars actually being fixed/repaired,without it you don't have a show...
I didn't know ed had left the show, without him you are left with an annoying guy with a poxy accent.

Velocity have admitted that they are tailormaking their shows for the American market.
Unfortunately for us the American market is full of imbeciles.
The shows will have more input from the "characters" and less about the actual work.
In other words they intend to play around and film the workshop knucklehead doing practical jokes rather then the more expensive filming of an actual car construction or repair.

I find that with those American car shows you spend most of the time listening to "bleep" noises covering up the swear words written in by the script writers. Why script in a swear words to then have to sensor them all out? Bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep gets pretty annoying after a while.

I would have assumed that someone tuning into a car show is more interested in the car rather than a fabricated story line. Why cant the CAR be the star of the show. That is what made the earlier episodes of Wheeler Dealers so enjoyable to watch.

OKay, you got me started.

Both of you are absolutely right. I am from North America and I am in North America right now. This is one of the reasons I quit watching TV in 2008. It is served up to stupid people. Same for professional racing these days too. Can you believe in NHRA Pro Stock there are burnout competitions? WTF??? NASCAR used to have "chase" and now "the playoffs".

Damn it. I want to know about the racing, the cars, engineering and technology. Just stupid. SMH.

Hey, know where you coming from s g. I used to go to Oran Park circuit back in the 60's and there'd be 20 races on the day. When one race finished the next race competitors were already formed up on the dummy grid ready to roll out as soon as the track was clear, and all commentated by Adrian Ryan - the best in the business.

And as for TV ... I record telecasts these days (like Bathurst today) and start watching the recording after a couple of hours from the start. That way I only watch races and skip through tedious interviews with "celebrity" ****ers and the average TEN ads in the breaks. I know so many people that do this these days and feel sorry for advertisers paying thousands of dollars for ads that people like me never see.

Another long time viewer here. Its interesting seeing how the format has changed over the years.
I think Ed made a 'brave' decision leaving. I hope he doesn't need the $$$.
I do think he is right however, the show wont be the same. Lets hope its not to "Americanised"
Just my thoughts

Still be a good show with just one of them. Times change but if the new guy is as informative as the preview suggests then it should be ok.

I'm wondering how Mike will Troll the new guy instead of buying Ed a mini that needs a new interior and dash pulled out - maybe sabotage his textas by swapping all the lids over.

Haven't really seen the new bloke yet so can't make any comments there but I thought Edd China WAS Wheeler Dealers. The main reason why I looked forward to watching WD was the fixing bits , couldn't care less about how they got the car and how contrived the selling on was . Edd made the show for me. I'll give it a look over time and still might enjoy it . We'll see.

G'day , I didn't check out the vid you posted straight away thinking that it was the one put out not long after they parted ways.
Glad I did look at it now and Brewer's petulant comments are not good for anything and I agree with your opinion on Brewer.

Just watched the first episode with Ant Anstead (spelling?) and I have to say it was better than ever.
Ed China was a great bloke and an excellent presenter but Ant is in another realm altogether.

It's definitely worth following in it's new format.
Cheers.

I agree the show was really quite good. I thought Ed left because they wanted to cut down on the content of the actual repairing of the car?. It seemed as detailed, if not more detailed than it ever has been.

I found a way to watch it. Record it (I was going to type tape, l'm that old), then mute the chat whilst on the net reading the forum. That way you don't have to listen to chat and you can fast forward thru the ads. Worked well for the first show (though it did feel like I was watching Car SOS moves next door to Wheeler Dealers)
