Good to hear there all good then.

Hey Matt, yeah calipers definitely on the correct way up, I remember thinking what a bugger of a position the bleeders are in. So basically being a series 1 master cylinder (smaller bore) it should actually be easier to apply the brakes than if I went to the later model (larger bore) cylinder? I will let the brakes bed in a bit and see how it comes up I guess. Thanks for your input.
Pretty much yeah you should have less pedal effort but things like pedal ratios etc also have an effect but yes let them bed in first.

speaking of brake upgrades, my young brother did a brake upgrade on his 97 soarer, the end result was fantastic brakes, but he also had lost that nice progressive pedal feel, he found that with the extra braking power larger rotors, bigger caliper, he could go for a brake pad that was less grippy/abrasive, this helped a lot with brake severity and his eyes stayed in the sockets when he applied the brakes , another benefit is his rotors are lasting longer .

Just to report back on the upgrade the brakes are feeling much better now that they have bed in. The pedal is still a bit longer than it was before, but when they start to work they are fantastic (even a bit too touchy), would definitely recommend this upgrade to anyone. Will wait for the master cylinder to crap itself or a cheap one to come up before worrying about changing it though.

I did BA front calipers onto AU2 XR ute, PBR braided lines front only, standard RDA BA discs and QFM pads, no pedal travel issues and braking performance equivalent to slotted rotors and TRW pads I had on the AU2 before. Not a huge leap in braking performance but an improvement nonetheless with good pedal feel.
Cheers
Bill.
