Jump in here, they are most closely related to Cortinas and Escorts.

What was it you want to know?

firstly how do you decode the compliance plate!
I don't know what year it is, and neither does the guy i brought it off!
Was an ex show car a while back, think i remember seeing the graphics in an old mag.....but could be wrong. Needs a fair bit of work done, this is the first car i can call mine....husband gets in and claims all the other as his!! Normally restore XR & XT falcons in all shapes and sizes....
Any help with the compliance would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Well first of all congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forums!!!! Glad to see there is some interest in Anglias happening in here....

Anywayz i'll keep an eye out for info on Anglias, there is an Anglia in my car club so i'll see if the owner can help out. Maybe if you can post the details of the plate here (or PM them to me) i can chase it up...

Good luck with your car... if you get a chance photos would be fantastic...

Good move buying an Anglia. I thought I was the only person on here with one. I am rebuilding an estate that I bought about a year ago. It has no motor or running gear, and the paint work is crap. However, I have spent some money learning how to do bodywork and spraypaint so hopefully, I will get that lot sorted out fairly soon. I am planning on buying a ratty 1.6 Escort and transferring the oily bits across, as this is apparantly an easy job (they always sound easy...).

A mate of mine used to have an Anglia with a worked 2lt Pinto in it....Went really great. I've heard you can use an Escort x-member and swap over everything over and get rack and pinion steering and do all the usual Escort/Capri mods. They are mega light as well (something like 750kg, stripped) so they make a great track car. I've even seen one with bubble arches and white wall tyres...."rat rod" style.

on the rego papers our anglia is down as 762kg when it had the 1.2L in it. it's now got the 1.6 GT capri so it'd weigh a tad more. it goes hard as is and thats got the stock engine (though it did come with the twin throat carby and extractors that we couldn't get fitted in the engine bay.) and to all those harry potter fans, we got the number plate from the movie (7990 TD) on our light blue anglia

we're doing the rust on it this weekend actually and it should be getting a paint job soon (hopefully before gin gin this year (for all you west aussies, hope to see you there)).

good luck with your anglia BigGreenPig, and for a bit of background info on the anglias, go to http://www.anglia-models.co.uk/
