Here’s something I might have missed. Why was it they made the P4 from a 4 doori don’t recal any 4 door’s racing back then, the coops were all the rage

For those not following the auction.
It sits at $510k with 13 days to go.

Because the coupe was released later in the XA range than the sedan I guess.

it would be nice to think they were going to offer the ph4 in both four and two door configuration

if I'm in a position to bid this sort of number, I'm pretty well off yeah? so I'm pretty good with my money yeah? ok that's an assumption. why would I, with days left in such an auction bid such numbers, when I could wait till the last hour to separate the men from the boys so to speak? id be interested to know how many of these bids are genuine bids from ppl who want the car?

I think many here have well underestimated how significant this car is in the scheme of things and how much it will eventually sell for!

Exactly.

Why in the world someone who has this sort of money and presumably brains would lodge a bid of 1.5m so far from the end makes no sense. You would have a limit and near the end if its not at it then bang. If its over your limit then reconsider or fold etc. Makes you wonder if there are vendor bids to get it up.

Having been to a number of auctions of various kinds, cars, collectibles, militaria etc, I have seen people do jump bids many times, just to lock people out and get the item.

I asked one of these jump bidders why he did it, his answer was very simple "I want it, I have the money to pay what I think it is worth, why stuff around waiting for low ballers?"

I've seen the car up close, and the panel fit on it is pretty good. It's the narrow black stripe on the edge of the bonnet that makes it look like a Norm Beechey Monaro cooling gap fit.

The thing I don’t understand is how a car with very minimal klm’s has such worn hinges, even the crud around the filler neck

An appropriate time for a screen shot

The seller would have to be happy with that. How much do Lloyd’s add onto that?

7.5% Buyer's fee ($150,000)

& they would be charging the seller a commission out of the sale price on the other end.
(I don't know how much percentage they charge.... possibly around the same again????)

That's not a bad double dipping fee.
