Default XR5 spotted at holding yard

Saw them on the train on the way to work, was passing the holding yards at Ingleburn industrial, saw about 10-15 XR5t's. Most/All of them were the black (Panther Black?)

I just got a glance out of the corner of my eye, and thought "hey those rims are familar" and whipped my neck around to see the silver foglight surrounds.

Any news when there going to start being delivered?

I was told a couple a week or so ago that my silver one wasn't arriving in Melbourne until April 5th, and that then it would be another 7-10 days after that. Not sure how accurate that still is tho.

At the moment I'm expecting it'll be another 2 to 3 weeks before I get it.

I saw an XR5T last week in Leichhardt (pretty central part of Sydney) and it was on a Transporter.... sitting proud above the truck cabin right at the front! Looked veryyyyyyy Hot. Maybe I should have waited.....

Hmmmm …a heap of Panther Black XR5's in the country already eh? I must say that I am a tad upset to hear this, considering I have to wait until June for mine, and I was probably nigh on the first person in Australia to sign up! Damn you East Coaster’s :

They are coming via Train from Germany to Asia, then from Asia to Australia they are swimming, then they are catching a boat past Ayres Rock and docking with the West Gate bridge.

But in all seriousness, they are coming from Germany. Thats the only factory that is producing the ST / XR5 Turbo!

Yeah one of those cars is mine. All cars are being held by Ford until the 19th April and then they will be shipped to dealers. That being said I'm not happy for the pointless delay.

Yes.

If you want an XR5 without the Turbo, you also have to lose half a litre of engine, and save yourself about $6000.

I think this seems to be the trend, backed by replies in the XR5 forums: http://www.fordxr5turbo.com/forum/index.php?topic=14.0

Panther Black looks great, but my wife wants to get the Sea Grey, or Performance Blue as a second choice.

Cheers,
Ford Grunt

I thought that the turbo was standard
So the stock xr5 is 2.0L ? how many Hp= kw do you get in the 2.0L and xr5t is a 2.5 ?
A question to the people who are going to get a xr5t
We don't sell turbo
Wouldn't it work out cheaper to go and buy a stock standard Duratec from 20,990 and put a big powerful turbo and save 10,000
New turbo sell under $2000 and inter cooling is around $1000, im not to sure on full cost.
I know the biggest turbo on a Zetec is 400hp to stock or youll get turbo lag
So I wonder how big of a turbo will fit on a Duratec
The high end duratec sell for 27,490 and 30,990
If your going to spend near 30k, your more then likely going to get the new xr5 model.
2 thing are going to happen
1) who's going pay near 30k for a stock Duratec, when the xr5 is about $6000 less the xr5t at 35990
2) Ford dealer could have a problem selling the high end stock standard Duratec or stock xr5
It's all going to come down to Hp, colour, options, what come standard, etc
its going to be interesting what model sell better, so you could see a price drop with the high end stock duratec if Ford can't sell enough

I didn't know there was a option if you wanted a turbo, i though it come stock.

That what we would all like to know?
I've been to Ford website and it says nothing about non turbo model
All it tell me on www.ford.com.au that its a 2.5L Duratec engine 20v and that about it all Ford is giving away in info.

I far as I knew it come stock standard and thats all you got.

THANK YOU!

FRA - The XR5T is about $35,990 with a 2.5L Turbocharged Duratec
The Zetec is $27,490 with a 2.0L Duratec (Non Turbo)

This is what people mean about saving the $$$

You also get an Underpowered (for its weight) Zetec, that isnt much quicker than a manual Fiesta Zetec (Even more so now with the new WQ model and its better gear ratios)... $6000 more is worth it when you factor in the turbo, the 5cyl, premium sound and recaros. Oh, and the submarine lighting on the gearknob :

I soooooo badly want an XR5!!! Im gonna get myself into early debt...
