Default Ford Vs Holden Day

undefinedundefined

Hi peoples, just to let you know the Tascommodore club is looking at organising a Blue v Red day in conjunction with our club. Although the talk is to make it open to any Holden or Ford, and not limited to club cars. I agree with this and believe it is a good idea. The Comm club discussion thread is here http://forums.tascommodores.com/inde...opic=8956&st=0 For those that would like to read the views from the dark side . Please post your thoughts on this as this could be a good thing to keep the drags in the state as there is talk that if numbers and events don't improve the track could close.

Cheers Corey

Hi all. I'm not a member of the tas group but maybe oneday( some of you in Launy may have seen me driving around). Anyway i'm very interested in this Ford Vs Holden day as i have met one of the guys guys from the dark side and what i have seen after doing some snooping (Hi Chris) he has a very quick car(with added extras). Any way i am in the process of getting my ute looked at by a well known tuner in melbourne(when i get the $$$$ together) and would be very very interseted in doing this drag day. Just out of interest to see what the ute will do.

Gday all.....zxr600 (the neighbourly snoop????)

spoke to Jamie on Monday and this is what we are looking at.....he is really keen for this

just some ideas.....

2008 Starlight Foundation (or another good cause)Holden v Ford shootout......proudly supported by .........(naming rights eg...southern Cros/Motors/Jacksons)

Sunday June 1 2008

who to invite (anyone else???)

Tascommo's
FPV
Pro utes
Hot Rod club
Tasperformance website
LS1 website
Streetcommodores
Van Diemens

sponsors......?
Motors
Jacksons
Tilford
Fairford
Repco
Supercheap
PABS
CAI
Autobarn
Bob Jane
Duggin and Parker
Tas Performance Wholesale
Examiner/Mercury/Advocate

Who can come (these are just ideas)
Cars slower than 10.99??????
(exhibition….comp cars/super sedan come out every hour 6-8 cars)
Roadworthy - sealed overflow bottle for radiator
Helmet and long sleeve shirt
the usual stuff

how much...

$55 per entrant (if no ANDRA day lic required)

split in into 2 payments non refundable $30 payment due May 16 - then pay 25 on the day
how many cars 50-80 (need a minimum of 50 cars)

what you will get for your cash

3hrs of test and tune racing 10-1 (around 6-7 runs)
Lunch 1-1.30 - sausage sizzle????
DYO Elimination racing 1.30 - 4.30 (two divisions top field and a bottom field)

Trophy Presentations 4.45

how will it be run - questions to be answered by Jamie.....Slicks/ANDRA or Private day/exhausts or run it as test and tune......

10 sec cars like Victors XY/Steve's LJ/Lemons ford/Red XT...get them as a draw card – free entry for them to race???? ........

Award for best Ford and Holden (ford and holden pack)
trophy for each division - winner and runner up

car show for those who do not want to run.. $2 entry

have the divisions 11-13.499 and then 13.5 - slower (depends on entrants)

spectators - entry 16y over $5 (under 16 free) family $8 (gate money str8 to starlight foundation)

Scrutineering 9-11?

instead of eliminations in the afternoon have the same two brackets and run them on a points system 5 points for a win 2 points for a loss
(that way if you loose the first race you dont have to pack your bags up and go home - and get first time racers a bit more experience running the dial in racing format)
the top two holdens and top two fords will race each other in the semis for each division - (the cars with the most points) and then the final will be Holden V Ford
(if there are more than say two Holdens on equal points the two fastest cars move into the semis)
another idea get intouch with the Make-A-Wish and see if any kids want to go in a race car???? put them as a passenger a nice car (like Dwaynes/Chris GTS or an XR5/6/8...) and give them a run down the track???

extra money donated to Starlight..... ie if we get 70 cars that's a guaranteed $1350 donation....

pie in the sky stuff ...maybe

cheers Chris (AKA vx350int)

Damn, looks like i am going to have to put the pressure on my tuner. Currently i have a 6 week wait before the car can be tuned :( Which will make it the week before the event. Time to start applying a little pressure ing_sm

I'll have a crack.

Keep this thread up to date pls. Although straight line racing is not my thing, you obviously need numbers, and I'd hate to see the Tarmac close down without supporting events like this.

And I can't sit back and watch the Phoons have all the fun...............

Cheers

As much as I said I would be at this I'm throwing a party for finishing my apprenticeship Sat night and I don't think I will be feeling well enough to be driving to lonny at 8am let alone 8pm sun night LOL. Hopefully the event goes well and there are good numbers weather permitting of course, so that this can become an annual event.

Cheers Corey

So I take it the FF members are not going to be patronising this even in great numbers.

That's disappointing.........

According to Tim there are no members attending. too short notice and not a club sanctioned event. yeah, disappointing.

Tex, if you are still keen, let me know. I am meeting some of the proutes guys at the Brighton Maccas at around 7:00am.....weather permitting of course. I will not be going if it is going to down with rain up there...although the forecast is now leaning more towards staying sunny and 15 degrees. so it should be a goer.

I would like to go, but not being able to get the car tuned is a major factor for me. :(
Most of the clubs members are more interested in drive days (like the huon run) and that type of activities.
The committee is currently discussing the pro's/cons of having our own private drag day. I think this would get more support from our members, as it is just us and no other clubs to make them feel un welcome. Thats just a little feedback that i have been given. Unwelcome isn't the right word, but the feedback i have been given, is that they would feel more comfortable and less pressure if it was just our club.
