Nortons is a resource hog.. Try firefox and selective Email opening. To bust pop ups though Ad-aware, SpyBOt etc etc .. What one will miss the other might find

IMO the best solution to defend against spyware and viruses is to run a system that is incompatible with them. I use linux & have never ever had a problem with spyware or any of that crap. My other PC runs a dual boot system, with Windows xp for games etc, & linux for internet. It really depends what you use your computer for though.

It's mostly the same, as long as you're running a decent desktop like KDE... It's a desktop environment very much like windows. If you have broadband internet & a cd burner check out http://www.mandriva.com & have a look at mandriva linux, it's the one i use and it's probably the easiest linux system to learn.

Of course the other problem is compatibility but Mandriva comes with all the linux software you should ever need so I don't see it as a problem

I'm using 'avast!' thanks to my rather expensive multi computer Norton package not running on 64 bit PCs. That annoyed me a fair bit when I first got the computer. Don't actually mind so much anymore.

Werd.

Haven't had any problems for the last 2 years running this setup. Just keep Firefox up to date (red triangle at the top means it needs an update.)

The other computers in this building use AVG and Iexplore, and have a large amount of viruses on their computer.

Also if you use outlook(i use mozilla thunderbird) make sure you do not enter your email address into dodgy webpages/guestbooks etc.
