You guys always get the short end of the stick here. But on another note, is anything else new?

It does suck. Maybe they are pulling an Apple and will release the better version a year later.

Do you honestly believe a platform nearing the end of it's life was going to have the cost of R&D spent on it to put a 300+kW V6 petrol engine in it and then sell enough before the next new platform comes out and be priced at under $80K+

Perhaps a race between the Ranger Raptor and a regular Ranger along the Strzelecki track from Lyndhurst to Innaminka to see which one breaks down first.

TRD does not have the comprehensive off road suspension of Raptor (Watts link and Fox suspension)

This time around, Ecoboost was not an option considering 99% of RR's markets are diesel oriented.
The US 2.3 EB was a late inclusion after RR was completed but you'll most likely get your wish in 2021.;)

RR is a niche vehicle....the desires we are applying are differences in relation to what we already have and there is nothing like it here. But i don't think Ford had you guys in mind when it was created and likely gave us a variation they can move sufficient numbers with to justify it's sale here. Ok the engine is a bit of a letdown under SOME conditions. But i don't recall driving my 3.2 PX and caring that it wasn't lighting them up at the traffic lights, my expectations weren't high and it was good for what it was. Comment with your money and spend elsewhere if its not for you. Or...who is to say an alternate engine is not already in the pipeline? How fast is even a 2.3 EB going to move over 2000kg? 3.5EB err i'd have one, but only with my Fleetcard firmly in my pocket. Can't say i don't feel some disappointment, but i'd hope there is a next installment out there....

the proof will be if they are left sitting in dealer lots... given the 1000+ presales somehow I don't think that will happen.

Ford has added a new range-topping variant of its Ford F-150 pick-up line-up that packs not only all the bells and whistles, but more importantly the 335kW/691Nm 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 from the F-150 Raptor.

Called the F-150 Limited, Ford says the new variant is aimed at “fans who love Raptor power but want a more upscale package”. https://www.whichcar.com.au/news/for...wer-with-class

2 years ago when I drove the Strezlecki Track most of it was a good piece of road, 6 lanes of smooth compressed dirt/clay, travelling at +100km/hr was a non-issue. Just saying

Next year, Ford will be releasing the 3.0 V6 Ecoboost engine in RWD US Explorer and hopefully T6 Bronco after that.
It is expected to have similar power and torque as the "regular 3.5 V6 Ecoboost" but with superior fuel economy

A pity we couldn't add 3 more letters in there: " RWD US Explorer RHD"

I didn't buy one, I signed up for a PXII XLS 3.2 A6 for work duties today. This is my 4th PX/PXII Ranger purchase, how's your tally?

I mentioned this topic to the salesman today, there's common sentiment of the lack of performance offered from the RR. The dealer has no doubt they'd be able to sell the F series Trucks (to order) if Ford Oz would import them. Farmers have expressed interest in the F series truck and don't know why it's not available here.

The only reason the Ranger Raptor sells is due to it's mediocre competition. Put a F150 against a RR and see how the two compare.

We're a bit slow on the uptake, diesel is on it's way out in Europe. It's not the clean burning engine it was once touted to be, there's a move back to petrol engines. Ford Europe's Ecoboost development is proof positive.

The volume is not there. Why bother esp. with the small population of Australia.

Ford sold nearly 900k F trucks last year in the US. It’s just not worth it to sell to Oz.

What's it cost to develop a new platform versus converting F Series to RHD?

Nah, anyone that might be keen on the RR is clearly deranged !
We all NEED 300kw and a huge vehicle to go with it.
Look at the top 20 selling cars in OZ they're all huge with 300 plus KW. aren't they?

When vehicle manufacturers have a 'let them eat cake mentality', and the sheeple accept it, most settle for the mediocre rubbish sold here.

I'll take a 335kw TT V6 over the current vehicle I've just purchased given a chance.

Who knows, they’ll probably release the next all new Ranger with something like a V6 Ecoboost.

One thing for sure, you’ll probably be back to whinge about that powertrain too.

0-100km/h 10.4s - better hold on to your hat!

Thought I'd have a go.

For the love of Ford, get that RHD Explorer/Bronco and PETROL Ecoboost drivetrain here asap. And Lincoln Aviator. And F-Series. Make Australia Ford's Again!

This, this, so much this. The shift is away from diesel and if it isn't burned customers with DPF nightmares or AdBlue, it's going to be worldwide regulation that does it.

https://www.caradvice.com.au/671488/...ration-switch/

Some tales of woe in the comments section regarding the DPFs as an example. Stopping every 300km and letting it do its thing for 1/2 hour sounds like electric car convenience, not endless reliable running hours.
