I’d take the raptor, this is running tiny 31’’ tyres (raptor 33’’) and still leaf rear.
The diesel is 30hp less than the raptor and is still running a 6 speed Vs the Raptors 10. Torque is the same.
I have read the 31’’ tyres don’t look right on it given they’ve lifted it 2 inches.
Still a nice bit of gear though.

wow the colorado has been criticised for having tiny wheels, then for having larger brakes, would like to see the two hp/trq curves overlapped and see where they are compared to each other especialy with gbox ratios

Yes really. The dampers and travel help a lot vs a stock F150 chassis, but there is no denying the fact that with such huge travel, your mate is continually correcting the steering whilst the rear wheels try to steer the car....

Shedloads of fun but the Ranger one will knock its socks off

To me, this conversation has turned very interesting.

A little side note, but bare with me. Ancient history is a hobby of mine so I watch a lot of videos covering some of the explorations going on these days. Something I have noticed, most of the vehicles used by these explorers are diesel powered moderate sized SUVs and pickups. They seem to get the job done, but I don't get a sense of confidence from watching them. I tend to think there are a lot of off camera rescue missions with winches, shoves, come-alongs, jacks, etc.

I think a Ranger Rapter with the now planned 2.0 twin turbo 4 cylinder diesel would be the perfect vehicle for these missions. I know if I was on one of these journeys I would want a Ranger Rapter.

Seemed fairly predictable from where I was sitting. A little hard to compare it with a vehicle that isn’t even available yet.

How many more kw does it have? Double, yeah not bad.
But in regards to newton metres it has only 88nm extra? Pathetic. Luckily the Ranger Raptor has 70nm more than the Triton which is one of the cheapest decent utes you can buy.
At least when you see a Triton in the Mojave desert you can speed off at 170km/h.

At least with the HSV SportsCat they aren't pretending to have a performance engine. They basically said, "the standard engine is good enough, but look at this cool stuff we added"

I wonder what Ford could have achieved if they re-worked the 3.2L 5cyl and added another turbo. Probably more than 10kws and 30nm. Not sure if it was even possible, but a whole new engine for such a small improvement seams like a lot of effort.
Before someone says "10 speed" imagine a 10 speed on a slightly bigger engine.

They would be lucky to see mud on a building site. Most will see the owners wet grass as they wash it on a Saturday morning.
When you go orffroading most vehicles are the base spec model of whatever 10 year old 4x4 the owner prefers.
I went off roading yesterday. The newest car I saw was near new shiny red LR Defender which had some serious off road orientated mods on it.
Everything else was a base spec 7+ year old 4x4.

Wow, just to make the tub even MORE useless.
Those hardtops really cripple the car's functionality in terms of what you can chuck in the back. But now this one you can't even take the hard top off and tie anything to the bars?

Well, then I would say it says how great the suspension is in the Ranger Raptor. Looking forward to seeing some reviews, and also what power plant the US version gets. Maybe a future version of the F150 Raptor will get coilover shocks? I know there are some big changes coming to the North American trucks starting late next year.

Yes the 150 Raptor is getting coils at the end of the year.

Sounds familiar, FTe and AU1 and 2 T Series, oh oh but its all about the package.

In comes a 5.4 with 290kw....power/numbers are king again

The way I read it, the new engine is an Ecoblue, Mondeo uses the older Duratorq.
The Transit range in Europe will be the first models to employ the new EcoBlue engines

Ecoblue will replace the old Duratorq's in Mondeo, Focus etc. It's an all new engine. Transit uses the low power single turbo version.

I guess so, but they still throw the P word around all the time including in their official reveal.
Whether it's the Mondeo or the Transit 2L that has been reworked it still seams strange that they chose a pretty modest engine to tune up. Out of all of the 'One Ford' engines that exist they chose a pretty average one for the 'performance truck' which is going to be one of the most expensive Ford products outside the proper performance cars.
