Default Engine swap xr6 to xr8 legalities

Sooooo...

Im still on the lookout for something that will be suitable for a new home for the engine and I keep coming across dirt cheap XR6's but no 8's.

What would be involved in getting a 6 registered with an 8 engine? I will be getting it engineered this time round now that I have everything I need so is it done at the same time or would I have to jump through more hoops because the government wants more money from us?

That model came with a V8 option, so I doubt it would be too much trouble, and it shouldn't need engineering IF you use an motor of the same year & ADR compliance level.
