Surprising it actually tastes ok. More like a liquor than a rum though.

Wow - surprised I only had to go 2 pages into an 8 page thread to find mention of Tanduay

For many years I've been an anti-drinker of dark rum, couldn't stand any of it. Until a friend who's married to a Filipina got me to try this stuff.

The taste is interesting, it's like about several different things at once, including brandy; having said that, for mine, still identifiably a dark rum.

It's nigh on impossible to get in this country, though it does crop up here & there; generally I can keep myself stocked up by letting my friend know, who in turn asks friends and/or in laws to bring a bottle back.

I still wouldn't touch Bundy, Inner Circle or any of that lot with a bargepole. Tanduay is the only dark rum I can drink & enjoy

More about Tanduay here

Looking forward to MDC 7. Will buy one bottle and drink it, of it tastes any good, will grab a case, if it's ordinary, will get one more for the collection.

Kraken Black Spiced

Great at $35 a bottle, but it's not $35 a bottle, it's $55. So it's very average on the bang-for-your-buck metre.

I have 2 bottles of MDC 7 on order through liquor specials web site.

On a different note, just saw Mr Black Cold Drip Coffee Liqueur is going to be available through all 181 DM stores very shortly. Quite looking forward to getting my hands on one as I really enjoy liqueurs. About $60 a bottle.

Too bad Dan Murphy's don't sell Bundy Royal Liqueur ay Buck?

My recent tipples have been Rebellion Bay and Sailor Jerry. I'm loving these spiced rums, the only one to disappoint so far is Bacardi Oakheart

Nah. My local bottlo stocks Royal Liquer, so I can get a few from hm.

He also have 3 bears birthday, founding fathers and D3 on the shelves. And all the MDC except for the ten year old in stock. Recently he had FF on special for $40 a bottle. So I stocked up

It's a little secret I've kept to myself because if I let out where it was, I know the stock would all be gone and end up on eBay at an inflated price. Fact I can still get these bottles at RRP, is a great little find.

Watched a documentary the other day about Bacardi, the factory uses 300 000 liters a year of rum just to clean the bottles. They can't use water to clean the bottles because it would dilute the finished product. They also randomly select employees to taste the rum... Talk about job satisfaction.

Got my hands on a bottle today of Mr Black. Very concentrated intense flavor. Quite a different experience. I think a drink which will be best enjoyed after a nice meal.

33 is a great drop as to us the SB. I bought a few drinkers of the 33 to last me a while. Might get some more before the ebay price increase.

I like to think of it more as a shot or morphine. It helps ease the pain after a long hard day at work

International RUM day tomorrow. Dan's is having tastings all day. Time to try ones you've always wanted too, but didn't want to buy before you try.

I wish they made sample bottles so you can try buy.

Captain Morgan Spiced Gold

Though in Australia 'technically' not a rum, still a great mixer

A man with good taste ^^^

But my top three

1. Bacardi 8 year old
2. Ron Zacapa XO
3. Beenleigh 5 year old

I based these rankings on how excited I would be if someone gave them to me as a gift.

Honourable mention goes to Stolen Spiced, brave and very unique flavour that you won't find anywhere else. Be brave and give it a go.
