Rob Campisi has done it, he just ran a blistering 5.97@254mph (409km/h) in his 632ci BBF Ford Mustang, to not only become Australia's first 5-second turbo car, but too also be Australia's fastest Doorslammer (2 opening doors) and it's only 2mph off the fastest doorslammer in the World.
amazing achievement and congratualtions to Rob, CV Performance, Craig Burns (Street Car Fabrications) and the whole crew. i think the car has another pass left today, so possibly another record. should be some video up in the next day or 2!! |

sweet as. it's got 80's in it for sure. has run a .977 best 60', they reckon every 1/100th u pick up in the 60' is 2/100ths in the deep end. so had he run a .977 60' would be good for a 5.8 pass

Awesome effort to all those involved!
Yeah the shot from out the back of the car looks ridiculously fast. I'm loving the fact its Ford and Turbo powered, two things dearest to my heart.

 rubberfire: yeah talking MPH, Zappia i believe has only gone 250mph which is the Aussie record for Top Doorslammer. pcman: it's still pretty much called BWARND have seen the BWARND plates on it in the pits. pretty sure the Cortina is getting a makeover itself, its been sold and another TT combo going in it. |

Very impressive pass but we should be careful when comparing a top doorslammer with a super sedan. Using the weight break that Zappia runs on, Campo's car would need to weigh over 3300 lbs, 600 more than Zap. Body is also illegal for TD.
Not poo pooing his efforts, 5.97 is amazing for a ford powered car but apples with apples please. Wonder how much longer we have to wait for ANDRA to allow turbo's in TD, all they need to do is follow the NHRA formula. And bring back nitrous while we're at it |

At the speed ANDRA moves it may take a while.
Campo ran Pro FX at the first version of this years Winternationals. From memory there were only 4 or 5 cars in the class which is disappointing. Pro FX is a class with huge potential but at an event like the winters it sort of got lost in the mix. Need a couple of side by side 5 sec passes to wake the crowd up
