Default Calder 20th November

Anyone planning on racing there? I'm still undecided though I think I'll make the journey anyways just to see the Doorslammers in action. It will hurt givin Bob me money but.

i'm hoping we can at least take 1 car down, be it mine or 1 of the brother's cars. 8 Pro Stock cars will be at the event as well as the 16 Top Doorslammers.

there is an entry list on the website but i don't think its very up-to-date.

its just a shame that the doorslamers are only running 1/8 mile but the Pro Stock guys will be running the full 1/4 mile track...

i was put off going when i heard that there only doing the 1/8 mile !
but will see what happens on the day.
i think like last time they ran, a few of the guy's still went the full 1/4 although they were only timed to the 1/8.

im actually interested to see what the guys do on the 1/8th. well, that is if they are gearing them for 1/8th racing, i guess they may just leave the 1/4 mile gears in.

here's a list of the PS guys coming

Lee Bektash - Dodge Stratus
Andrew Stavroulakis/Con Sideris - Dodge Stratus
Joe Polito - Ford Escort
Jason Grima - Ford Mustang
Ian Brown - Pontiac Grand Am
Richard Caval - Dodge Avenger
Arthur Kolaroff - Pontiac GXP
Bill Perdikaris - Ford Escort

Bill and Jason were out testing last week at a private test day @ WSID, cars sounded

i noticed on the entry list Dom Luppino will be running his 7.0@200+mph 440ci Twin Turbo Mustang on a drag radial tyre that and Frank Mamone on the 10.5 would be worth the admission alone

Calder track is well prepared and looked the goods on Sunday.
Only the door-slammers will run 1/8th because of insurance reasons, this was the same as last year when they run at Calder, well the official line and number recorded for racing will be 1/8th, but there were many racers who kept the boot in all the way to the end of the 1/4 mile last year..
All cars need to pre-enter and I think it closes soon...

1/8th mile is big in the states. Plenty of guys running 150mph plus and faster on small tyres. Like it or not its the way its headed. With the speeds cars are now going 3000 pounds and 250 mph is alot to pull up and its only a matter of time when door cars will run out of safety margins like top fuel has in the USA.
And as a fellow crow eater i know what your sayin XA. Why is it when you hear the letters B.J you wake up with a sore ****?

Anthony Selva's ex ASV Ford.

The track at calder even at mid 90's Top fuel vic champs wasn't always great, we found on average the best startlines were Adelaide and Willowbank, the best air was at Ravenswood (as it should be because the track was actually BELOW sea level)

But, right now apparently the track is awesome, so the 1/2 track pro numbers will tell us i spose.

Heathcote has never been a great track for 60ft etc but is a fun social atmosphere, you get plenty of runs and can get some mph testing at least.

ok sweet, all the best with the PS car.

possibly there is a chance Calder might become an ANDRA sanctioned track again so they are stepping up their game. the more tracks the better.

small tyre racing is becoming pretty big here, with the likes of Ben Bray, Gas Motorsports, Matty Abel and Frank Mammone all pumping out mid 6-second passes on a 10.5'' tyre, at shakedown @ E-Town last week a couple of the Proline turbo cars pumped out some low 6's on the 1/4.

not sure if 1/8th will take off here, ADRL is huge in the US but not sure if it will take off here.

Spoolman, the info you have given is incorrect. The Doorslammers are running 1/8th mile because that is the series that Victor and the boys have organized, and can take the show to regional tracks like Mildura, Portland, etc. It in no way has to do with insurance!
Entries close on October 15, after that entry will cost you $450, no entries on the day. As for the track, well....

the entry list is awesome, should be a great meet even if its not in the best interests of victorian drag racing.

who wants to bet they won't finish before the curfew?
