2 sizes: Expedition and Expedition Max. The Platinum gets a high output version of the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost. Raptor power maybe?

Maybe it's coming down under. Looks fairly flash. Another two wheel drive SUV with optional 4WD.
There was talk of the Territory replacement last year, but I thought it was another model. This has a new motor for this country too.
In the lower parts of the brochure there is the interesting disclaimer ..........

this thing is much much lager than a terri. the small one is bigger than a 200 cruiser.

and the update can't come soon enough, the current one is so far behind the gmc, chev, caddie triplets

Another article. No doubt the Lion V6 diesel will be coming and Ford did tease more hybrids are coming too! Exciting times.

According to Ford's Canadian site, the Platinum will put out 400hp/480lb-ft (300KW/650Nm).
Even though they have 10 gears, they still have a low range through a transfer case.

Highly unlikely this will come down under, its certainly not a Territory replacement it much larger than anything on the road here already. plus there's already one line up for 2018..

Still looks like a great vehicle though

Landcruiser money? The Everest in mid spec isn't exactly cheap. These things dont seem to be ask focused as the Cruiser for off road etc?

these things are for ferrying rich blokes to meetings in nyc or for religious familys with 7 kids. nobody takes them off road

The 2018 Expedition looks like a giant version of the Ford Flex. The Flex has the twin turbo ecoboost 3.5L V6 with AWD. I like both!

I think I have said before, that the dashboard is designed in such a way that they have left it open to be easily reversed for RHD.

It beats me why they don't bring these out here to try to pinch sales off Toyota. Would not be hard to undercut Landcruiser pricing.

Key would be to have a class leading Diesel Engine to do well here.
Is there any V8 Diesels in the Ford Universe?

Yes, they have the 6.7L V8 Power Stroke (likely too big for that engine bay).
4.4L V8 Lion diesel for Range Rover - not sure if it's in production anymore. Because they have the 3.0 V6 hybrid with 37mpg. It also has around 750Nm combined torque. I think that would be a great option for the Expedition.

I like the way it looks, with the exception of the rear quarter which just looks really out of place to me.

We hired a 2016 Expedition last year while in California for holidays. It was one of the best SUVs i've driven. Great build quality, performance, luxury and handling

I can't see Ford making a RHD unfortunately and even if they did bring out a RHD version, they also need a diesel option to have any chance of success here (ours and others we seen were petrol only).

The North American Fraud Explorer in its current gen is no slouch, steers handles and brakes as good as or even better than an SZ territory. The fit and finish looks as good as if it was designed and built by Ford Australia. It will hold in excess of 100mph on the open road without breaking a sweat. Took one from Miami to Canada over all sorts of road conditions and it was faultless.

I know there has been a shift from the traditional Aussie sedan but **** me dead SUV/4WDs are massive these days by our standards. I really don't get the attraction to be honest. If I needed one I'd get a Ranger but that thing is still pretty big.

The Ford Expedition isn't for everyone... all depends on where and how you drive. If a large SUV is for you, then it's worth a look!

Big cars definitely become a hassle when it comes time to find a park. It's really not worth it.

Yeah it's slightly harder to park on the side of the street in city locations, but carparks it's not that different really. Sure you have to swing in a bit wider, but it's not something I would call hard. Especially compared to a large sedan like a Falcon.
Not a big enough difference to make me not buy the vehicle just because of parking.

I know it doesn't mean much for Australia unless Ford makes a surprise announcement, but the Expedition is getting a hybrid version. At some point, you would think there may be a business case for this fairly high tech vehicle in multiple countries.

Looks amazing, as good as a Cadillac Escalade ESV. Pity we can't get them here, although seen some GMC Yukon and Chev Tahoe getting around on the Gold Coast. Beats me why they don't sell them here , Australia is a big country and these are perfect for eating up long distances, much more so than the third world Everest and Fortuna...

I like the Everest, but very different vehicle. I think more choices are a good thing. Everest for small family with light to moderate towing and some light off-road. Expedition for larger families, or more luxury for longer trips, and heavier towing. Bronco for moderate to advanced off-road trails.
