Default video clips or links section or thread
should we have a section or thread that is dedicated to video clips or links to them, i love watching these movie clips personally and the only one on this site i've come across is dansedgli 0-100kmh thread with video

I voted yes because there are a fair few videos floating around, and it would be good to have them all in one place.

BUT I dont know of the concequences regarding storage and things like that, so it might not be worth it. The only way to find out is to have a mod/admin speak up.

Guys, we discussed this a while ago and decided that at least for the time being we will put that idea on hold... There are bandwith and server load issues to take into account.

i have a nice selection of vids on my personal site which ppl are welcome to look at

and have some room if people want to put some there to share as well... until other things happen anyway

Yes I am really curious about this cos I got sent an email with the MOST AMAZING driver I have ever seen on it... it was in like Iraq or something and it is awesome.

And I know that ppl on the forums would get a kick out of it, but I can't post it on here.

Is there a way around this? I only got it as a wmv.file, not a link to a site.

If I had my own server setup, I'd offer space on it so that all that would be required would be a new section on here and links setup directly to my server (click 'here' to upload video - with the upload going directly to my server, and click 'here' to view - with the download coming directly from my server), this would eliminate any possible problems with extra load on this site or potential bandwidth problems, but I can't possibly do that for at least a few more months... :(

i still dont see why the example above would not work, and it would redirect you to the thread in whatever topic/section the video is located(it would be hosted by someone else as is the case at the moment)maybe the person psoting the thread could be responsible for putting a link in the "videos section" in a voluntary manner

Yep, I've got a few there already, like this: http://www.fordforums.com.au/photos/...cat=500&page=1

Not sure about what file formats are allowed, I know AVI and Quicktime work. Also I'm not sure about what the largest video size allowable is.

If anybody could fill in those little details, I would appreciate it, as would a few others I'm sure.
