It wouldn't just be the part itself. There would be other factors that would add to the cost per vehicle.

Saw the Raptor yesterday afternoon camouflaged storming on a backroad between Melton and Werribee. Looked mean even wrapped up.

You can see the watts link and disk brakes in this shot...LINK

Good thing Ford doesn't build performance Rangers just to impress cynical non-buyers,
I hope this is everything those buyers have been asking for because that will put Ranger over the top.

Whilst its a huge claps of the straw...soon we'll have a performace Ranger and a Ranger racing in a production car class.

The more things change...haha

Seeing as a wildtrak is already low 60's what do you guys think they'll price this at? Would have to be high 70's you reckon?

If it's gets its own engine that it could be a lot more expensive you would presume.

Fairly sure Thailand has some sort of tax incentive for manufacturers who produce vehicles fitted with leaf springs and drum brakes?

Good to see they have put disk brakes on the rear. Personally I'd be disappointed if they go with coils on the rear. Utes are made to carry loads and leaf springs are the best. Even the F150 raptor still has leafs on the back.

Raptor only has a 1000-1200lb payload with leaf springs though, depending on if its supercab or crewcab. Meanwhile Navarra STX with 5 link coil spring axle has over 900kg payload. Even Everest with a coil sprung axle has 600-750kg payload for a passenger vehicle.

Yeah, nah.
99% of Ranger Raptor buyers are not going to carry heavy loads in the back.
Most tradies/gardeners are going to be buying a cheaper ute to carry heavy loads.
Modern coils should be able to have a decent payload that most private buyers will be happy with.

I hope they give it features that most new cars have in the twenty teens.
Modern headlights. LED DRLs, LED taillights for a starters.
I like modern lighting. I hate new cars with old school lighting.

Actually, the Raptor started off in 2010 with a 5.4L and 310HP. But everyone knew the 6.2L was coming so you won't find many 5.4s around.

Nice feature that one, OT the Mitsi Triton has this feature as well, not sure why other manufactures don't offer this (besides VW Amaroks full time 4WD system)

Ford Performance have been on point with their offerings so far, Ranger Raptor (should be) impressive.

Ford Performance wouldn't put a 2.0 diesel in the Raptor, that engine is probably for lower spec Rangers.

2.0 4cyl well bugger me, at least when we were whinging about sticker packs on falcons we had a decent surfeit of grunt regardless.

Are they serious? A 4 cylinder engine!
Australia's next muscle car will have a four-cylinder engine.
Drive can exclusively confirm the recently-announced Ford Ranger Raptor will be powered by a new-generation 2.0-litre twin turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine.
I hope Ford dont price gouge because of the Raptor name.

Next model will have a 3cyl 1.5l with 3 turbos :-) . In all seriousness Raptor buyers would expect 2.7 Ecoboost V6 as a minimum requirement for what this car represents.

i was excited about this car but now i think i might unsubscribe from this thread
its almost as bad as making a FWD commodore
no doubt they will make one with a petrol ecoboost for aus but please don't put the base model engine in a raptor

I take that article with a pinch of salt. The new 2l engine from almost every other report will replace the current 2.2l, and Ford could easily replace the 3.2 with the 3l that F150 will get.

I have no issue with them using a 2.0 4cyl across the range, but the Raptor nameplate frankly deserves better. If true, they needn't bother bringing it out, its not going to move in the numbers needed to justify it.

I have a similar gripe with LR. We bought our Disco 4 with the 3.0TT V6, the new one comes out with a 2.0 for $20-30k more. Customers arent idiots, it doesnt just need to be a value proposition against the rest of the new releases, it needs to be a value proposition against what they're upgrading.

With the chassis dynamics of the of the ones I've driven, frankly, it wouldn't be safe to put anything more than that in them.
