Isn't Rothmans a tabacco company. Or was?

Most likely a car from their corporate fleet. Many corporate fleets had their own colours made up to match their company colours.

Exactly right just like Gallagher silver and i believe Brambles red falls into the corporate colours as well.

Yes mate EY113 comes up as Rothmans Blue Metallic. Dulux Ref No. 08641. Your wagon was probably a Rothmans sales rep's car. The wagons were very popular due to the carrying capacity and convenience of loading and unloading the cartons.

Ford used to do quite a few vehicles in fleet colours back in the 60s and 70s. For companies that had a large vehicle fleet it would have saved a significant amount of coin being able to purchase the vehicles already decked out in the corporate colour.

I think every now and then Ford would do a few extras and sell them via the dealership network.

I recall an XB Coupe that came to our Queensland country dealership and was bought by a local farmer. It was 'Budget Green', which I think was the Budget Rent a Car corporate colour at the time. It was certainly the only one I ever saw in that shade of green.

I want to know why we had so many colour options back then when they were all manually applied and now we have so few.

I remember Ramset orange, which was the corporate colour for Ramset, back in the 90's in NSW. I'm not sure when they stopped doing it but I remember you could choose from over 200 OSO (off standard option) colours and have it painted at the factory, seem to remember it was roughly a 16 week wait depending when in the cycle you ordered it. No doubt it was an expensive option and probably not a priority for most people

That'd be a handsome colour on a Cortina, what are the plans for it?
This is the Rothmans livery I best remember...

I can recall "Gilbarco Blue" on an XF Falcon, I had to paint back in the early 1990s.
So at least up till 1980s?

Russ.

I think they did it up until the late '80s.
I can remember heaps of Falcon utes & Vans getting around Sydney in that Putrid Green of the Sydney County Council..

You can currently get a Transit (If you're prepared to wait) in all sorts of Fleet Colours. EG; Post office Red, DHL yellow, TNT Orange. plus others.

You can order AMG mercs in any colour you want. Not a cheap option.

I remember a fellow buying a bright pink ZL Fairlane which had been owned by one of the cosmetic companies. Horrible looking thing, but as he said he got it cheap because no one wanted it,and as he said, cant see anything other than the bonnet whilst driving,so what the hell, paint the bonnet matt black, problem solved

From memory this colour in the XC range became a mainstream colour, can’t remember the colours name as rothmans name got dropped. Thanks Jason

Mary Kay Cosmetics. I have seen a few different makes and models in Mary Kay Pink, a Territory and also a VW Beetle.

I used to see numerous Mary Kay Pink Lasers in Sydney's western suburbs during the 80s.

Both Holden & Ford had many 100s of fleet colours available to them, more so during the early years, because by the 1990s the fleets had realised how these 'weird' colours had such a serious effect on resale values.

I remember in the 90s all the red Camry wagons belonging to Coca Cola, I think they were the standard Toyota red. In the 00s Cadbury reps had VZ wagons in purple, there still a few around in private hands, looks bogan as.
Nowadays, they wouldn’t bother, as a vinyl wrap will last as long as the lease and be more economical.

If a car is wrapped in a different colour to the original paint, it may make you more of a target with the police with automatic number recognition technology.

From what I saw of the colour options most were variations on common themes, like different whites and red's silvers etc with a few out there choices.
