Was about $300 for the day. That included $60-70 excess waiver, as that was $6000 even if it’s not the drivers fault...

Default Re: So Hertz in Perth has Mustang GT’s

I visited my mum and sister in a Vic country town a few weeks ago and also took the opportunity to rent a stang to get it off my bucket list but to also suss it out as a future possible purchase now the Raptor was off the list

Had it for 7 days for $2150 and it also had only 1500klm's on it and I added another 856klm's .

There is no doubt they have the X factor as no matter where I went people looked and start up noise was unreal

Loved the engine and 10 speed as it hawled ****

But in reality sadly it's not something I would now buy. I realise its basically a sportscar but for our crap roads its suspension along with its large diameter wheels with only a strip of rubber are not condusive for a reasonable ride comfort. I rocked and rolled with every minor surface undulation and it became annoying. As such its not something I would do an across Oz trip in compared to my FG ute.

It was fine on super smooth freeways but 90% of our roads aren't super smooth especially in WA.

The interior controls layout was a tad fiddly but not a major concern as you would get used to them but a shame they didn't do a proper RHD build and put the handbrake where it supposed to be. The steering controls were really fiddly to use especially cruise and nowhere near as good as the FG's setup but again something you could get accustomed to.

After leaving mothers I did a run down the mornington peninuslar to Sorrento and then across to Queenscliff in the ferry and then along the Great Ocean Road to Apollo Bay for the night and then back to the airport next day.

Total hoot along the GOR listening to the V8 sound rumble off the hills

In a nutshell it was a good experience, however at this stage it would be totally impractical for what I need and not something I would buy as surprisingly the ute is a lot more comfortable and stress free to drive.

But if Santa gave me one to park next to the ute I wouldn't say no

On my last service on my FGX XR8 they gave me a mustang to take for the day.

I am a manual guy and it was automatic. I do not like autos as I like the control and directness of manuals so it was not apple/apple comparison.

But I was surprised that the Mustang in some ways felt more old school muscle- its long nose, and steering had a wide turning circle. In comparison the FGX XR8 felt more modern utility being more open, shorter stubby bonnet in comparison, and the dash was more modern utility in the Falcon.

The Mustang engine lacked the super instant grunt down low, but once the revs got up it was a hoot- different vibe having the natural induction quad cam on revs sound.

All up it was a different drive- not better- but sufficiently different and cool vintage vibe that I can understand why people like them - and despite the "relative" lack of grunt I had a big dum smile breaking out after giving it the stick on the barely scrubbed new tyres.

The dealer was hoping to entice me into one and I responded it had a lack of grunt- and the younger service manager said that it a common response from a number of FGX XR8 owners. I responded that I would not be trading in my FGX XR8 on it and the assistant responded "no neither would I- I would keep the XR8".

But if Ford brings out the GT350R that may be a different situation.

That's a good price. I looked at one through Hertz in Sydney a year ago that was about $250 a day.
I recently did another quote online and it was now $400 a day. I'm still going to rent one eventually

I was up at Port Douglas back in June of this year and at the tiny little Hertz rental office there, out the front was a nice Blue Mustang GT with rent me on the windscreen.

Wow $307 per day. I think I should get into the car rental game. Buy a new Must hang, rent it out for a year or two then flog it off for $40,000. A very tidy $100k for not very much work

For the price of a local stock mustang, one could hire a 350H in the states. Was offered one, but then declined as they required two credit cards for security, and I have no credit cards Hertz Australia lets the cars go off the lot with just a debit card

I landed in Perth when Hertz had just put them out in the carpark. Sir, would you like an upgrade. Ended up under 100 bucks a day inc the corporate rate and i had a ball. Bright yellow she was. To be honest though and maybe it's age, i couldn't see myself wanting one as a daily. A weekend car yeah. Man it sounded SOOOO good but.

So do you pay the $800 or so for a rear set of Michelins upfront or after you return the car?

I'm sure I saw it somewhere when Hertz announced they are renting out Mustangs, that there is some kind of check they do on the tyres before and after?

Tread depth measurement or something? Or maybe i'm thinking of Ford's program, where you can pay for use of a Mustang for a couple of days a year, if you sign up to the program after purchursing a new Ford vehicle?

It would be interesting to see if it gets covered by the excess waiver haha

Don’t these Stangs have a “burn out” button for drag races?

Pretty boring colour, imo. And the new front end looks like garbage - much prefer my 2016 model.

In America, you can rent a 2017 Mustang GT through Turo (people list their cars for rent) for $46 USD ($65 AUD) per day:

Either way I reckon both front ends don't matter the fact we can rent a V8 powered rear drive sports car from Hertz in Aus is awesome.

Wouldn't mind renting one myself for a day.

Well, I already own a Mustang GT, but even if I didn't, I'm not sure if $300 would be a worthwhile investment. I'm assuming you have to pay for any petrol you use on top of that? So that's another $100 for a tank, at current $1.70/L 98 prices. You can take one for a test drive for free, after all. We really need Turo here in Australia. Under $100 a day for one, and it would be a no brainer.

Speaking of the petrol, I wonder what they do about people who cheap out and put in 91 or 95 to save themselves money. How would they know?

Can we just agree that the new design is very polarizing?
