I'm 95% sure it was a V4....I remember being glued to the screen watching the race way back then.

Do some research for us Gaso.

Sorry mate, Dicky had the 205 YB block. The only V configurations in Sierra's were the V6 Cologne 2.3l in the UK, and the V8 5.0l released in South Africa.

This is a photo of Dick's Sierra at Lakeside Raceway that I took a few years ago, a DOHC YB engine. I wish I had his engine in my Sierra...

Well that was embarrasing

The DJR motors were crazy though. Ran about 6:1 compression and made 90hp flatout with no turbo. With turbo hooked up and about 50psi of boost and they were cranking out well over 650, even more in qualifying trim.

And the boost came on so suddenly it picked up something like 300hp in the space of 400rpm. No wonder they were so mental to drive. DJ says because of the turbo lag he would floor it half way round the corner, so the time the car straightened up the boost would come on

The mention of the good ol days re Sierra - they sure were not showroom like win on Sunday buy Monday.

Anyway more importantly a huge VALE Falcon, I shall miss you greatly but admire my 2 at home forever.
I can't see much difference next season on but for the Mustang body shape, the rest underneath will be just as this year and before.
I suppose some hope the aero may improve we shall see.

Yep end of an era. What a time it was.

Do the Holdens run a Windsor block as well? If so, that makes me feel good.

And end of an era indeed: young one gets his first car and first Falcon tomorrow. He's amped that he's old enough to buy a near new Australian made Falcon.

And it's looking good for Ford with the Mustang into the future.

These days my interest is more geared toward the Bathurst 6 hour, you know, the one where what you buy in the showroom gets raced:
