Default 2011 Mondeo Titanium - missing options?

Has anyone taken delivery of an MC Mondeo Titanium? There are a few discrepencies with what the car is Spec'd with and the Manual that came with the car. I'm just wondering whether my car is missing stuff or whether the manuals have been created from a bad 'cut and paste' job from the UK / European manual by Ford Australia.

This is what I have found thus far:

1. Sony Stereo is a Single CD type NOT a 6 stack. Is this right? MB Titanium had the six stacker.
2. External mirrors do not dip down when reverse is engaged.
3. Manual advises that Convers+ shows Tyre Pressure. No it doesn't.
4. What type of Alarm system is fitted? Perimeter, Perimeter with interior sensors or what?

All in all very happy with all the technology the car has. Especially adaptive cruise control (love this), Forward Crash Alert / Mitigation (used several times already), voice control, puddle lamps on wing mirrors, keyless start, proximity open and close, cornering headlights and lamps, hill start assist etc etc.

I'd say the book would come straight out of Europe.

1. Try putting in more than one CD.
2. Probably not offered here
3. Probably not offered here
4. Mine says alarm as well - never been able to trigger it.

I've got a MC Titanium wagon (sea grey as well) on order, and it will be an upgrade of the MA I've got now.

There are no factory options offered to us here in Oz.

It's single cd only

They don't dip even though the handbook says they should. I remember reading somewhere this only happened with the electric memory seats but I could be wrong.

No tyre pressure sensors. I don't think this has ever been offered in aus

Yes we miss out on kit but the titanium is still packaged with loads of "useful" goodies. In the UK you can choose different options as it's a bigger market, but if you chose the same / similar options as those standard with the Australian build then it works out roughly the same $. ($ vs Pound) and yet we're a much smaller market.
Not unhappy that it only comes with a Single CD, just suprised as this is a downgrade from previous model. Even the dealer advertising specs said it had a 6 stack CD player. No matter, as I've loaded up a 4 GB USB and using that - works brilliant. Have most of my music on it so probably wouldn't use the 6 stack anyway.

Allusion. Thanks for the detailed clarification and supplying the specs. I was assuming that the owner's manual was a bad cut and paste job - just needed confirmation. The dealer which I got the car through said my Titanium was the first with the (mostly) correct manual for the MC. All previous MC's were delivered with MB manuals! - good on ya Ford Australia.

lol @ Pommy Zetec There are 3 Titanium models in the UK, from memory I think ours is close to the middle one with a sport pack added to it.

The real difference as Mark said is the lack of options available here. The only one that annoys me though is sat nav because we can't get an after market one without killing convers+.

The car is really great though, well worth it.

...

I do the same with the stereo Mark, everything's on usb, I haven't used cd's for ages

My MB XR5 has the six stack. Tried it once or twice early on, then switched to 3.5mm audio external input from Sony Walkman MP3 player...then discovered the USB actually works properly with the Sony (unlike the iThingies).....then just loaded my music onto a 4Gb USB and left it plugged in.
Technology....argh !
Anyone remember 8-track cartidges ? Ok...I must be prehistoric !!

Titanium...my father has a MC Titanium diesel, and I thought he said the mirrors dipped when reversing. Different build specs at different times?

If your dads works, it might be just an option that can be re-enabled by the dealer. I'll ask about it when I go in for the 3000k service next week.

It's supposed to dip whichever side the switch is set to or none if the switch is in the middle - it didn't work when I tried it so tried setting a new position and still didn't work.

Maybe if I ask ford nicely they'll give me some memory seats to enable the advertised feature ;)

I use my iPod with mine works fantastically as long as you get the correct cable.
Just picked up My MC Titanium last week. I love it.

I too wondered about the dipping mirrors. I traded a TS Terry with reversing cam. I do miss that so at least a dipping mirror would go half way to replacing it.

Oh and I do remember 8 Track.......Just.

Cheers

Just checked UK web site: ford.co.uk. Nothing like the Pommy Zetec.
It's very close to Titanium X (middle of Titanium range) with the following (Options in UK) as standard: Driver assistance Pack 1 (BLIS, ACC, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beam, ASLD, Driver Fatigue monitoring), 18" Alloys, Keyless entry & Sunroof.

All in all it is still very well packaged - Ford Australia have got it right. (well ok maybe heated front seats unnecessary but hell they're nice in cold weather!)

You can also Build your Ford using the UK web site. If you build the Titanium X with the above options list price = 27,195 pounds which is around A$45,000. Same price as here in Australia - we're not being charged a premium at all (unlike most other euro cars - Peugot, VW (they're made in South Africa and Mexico anyway), Audi, BMW, Mercedes etc.)

Great car - very reasonably priced (for what you get).

With the lack of the six stacker now, I'll just keep an iPod Nano in the glove box plugged in, and update that (what's the 'special cable'?).

I got mine in 2008, and the first two CDs are still in there from Jan 08. Dont' change it too often.

There's a 'Y' cable that interfaces from iPod touch / iphone through the Aux AND USB ports. Allows you to access and control the ipod using the steering wheel controls / Convers display. Pretty nifty, however you get the same sort of control if you just load up a 4 Gb USB drive with MP3's and use that instead. Cable I believe is $50 vs $ 6 - $10 for a USB stick. (I went the USB.)

Yep....$50 ...close enough to the official Ford option price.
Your iThingy 'is integrated' if you spend another $50 for a cable (for a $40K+ car, should be included free). Apparently the pin mappings on the USB end of the Apple cable are different when it come to audio signal, hence USB + AuxIn needed on the car end. I started a thread on this 'integration question last year when mny daughters Ipon Nano Gen3 failed to excite me aurally, result being 'unique' U(non)SB pin mappings on the Apple cable. But Apple being Apple, go their own way, as usual.

Officeworks had 4Gb USB for $7, 8Gb USB for $15...still cheaper than $50 and no mucking around connecting your player-of-choice each time you use the car.

I think the previous radios were dab but with the sat nav it's just analogue.

There are a few aftermarket head units that drop straight into the mondeo and offer dvd/tv/sat nav etc... (and support rear screens) but they all lose convers+ connectivity apart from one available in Russia.

I will. Hopefully it's something simple and doesn't involve flipping the fuel cap open and closed 20 times in 5 seconds ;)

Not exactly the correct thread, but I didn't think it was worth starting a new one... does anyone with a Titanium know when the red safety lights in the doors are supposed to operate? I've never noticed mine being on.

I would have thought they should be on whenever that door (or maybe even *any* door) is open, but maybe there's another factor, like lights being on, light sensor for the headlights, something like that?

Cheers.

Never worked on my MA. Thought the same thing myself about them and think it is a bit weird.

Maybe there are wires and sockets in there for lights that have not been connected up. I wouldn't know as I haven't taken the door skins off. Someone would have.
