Default Clear peeling off

Hey guys,

A small section of clear just started peeling off on the roof of my car. I realised it whilst washing my car as there was some water stuck underneath it and when I sprayed water on it, it came off.

It looks like it will continue to some off so what can I do do stop it from spreading? Any ideas? I need to somehow stick the edges of the peeling bit so it doesn't keep coming off. Help will be appreciated!

Cheers.

Has your car got metallic paint as i've heard this is a common problem. I've got the same problem but i'm going to get the hole car recleared when i get my body kit painted. I don't know of any other way to stop it.

My Cobalt Blue NCII Fairlane Had it bad on the roof, & bonnet.

MYCardinall Red NCII Fairlane Has it REALLY bad on the roof, bonnet, boot & Top of the guards, front & rear.

I think its the quality of the clear coat right up to the AU 's. I notice that most AU colours are very close to the E series stuff, & as a result, peel. But its only certain colours, never seen a white on peel yet.....

Once there is a fair bit off the roof, can I get it re-cleared? how much does it cost, ball point figure?

No idea on cost. Mine is peeling on the boot and starting to deform on the roof. I'm hoping it will be under about $1500. I want a mint job though so i'll have to pay what they want.

One of the reasons i bought it was paint (cardinal red eb 11 fairmont ghia v8) i'm build a gt mock. So the shock on my face when i took it to the car wash and a 30x30cm piece of clear came flying off the boot lol. But atleast now when they do it it should look like new i hope, so i'm not to worried myself but it does look like crap.

$1500 for a coat of clear seems a lot to me.

resprays aren't cheap these days..
My EF has spots of clear peeling.. on the bumper i lightly sanded some and just cleared over it with a pressure pack.. seems ok but obviosly you wouldn't do it to a nicer car.
Dads AU xr8 ute has a patch on the bonnet too, looks like the same blue as yours..

True but prep work is where the money is. I'd think they would have to cut back most of the old clear coat to prevent it happening again.

Our local panelbeater will respray a bonnet or roof for around $400. Add a bit more for retail work.
