hey I am just wondering what the differences are between the 2 engines.
Are they totally different? or does the XR6 have some extra bells and whistles, and if so what are they? Thanks rob |

From what i know, just the head (had some slightly larger valves) and the cam were different. (I think)

E-series XR's have larger valves (41mm compared to 39mm in base models), AFAIK ford went 41mm standard in the AU's with thinner valve stems.
I dont know AU specifics, but the XR's generally had a bit of headwork, slightly larger cam, bit more compression, and a different tune. Bottom end is always the same (block, pistons, rods and crank).

hEY sFR rob,
All SERIII Falcons had Iridium Spark Plugs fitted, which were previously only fitted to AU XR's. Also BA's have them. They are supposed to be the ducks guts for performance, but the best part is they are supposed to last 150000k. I am about to carry out the 90000k service and have a set of plugs to go in if required. They cost about $18 odd each, which is the downside, but I will check them out at service. Cheers, Mike |

Not a hell of a lot of difference in them really.
In the AU the XR6 gets a better cam and an ECU with more aggresive performance programming and adaptive shift programming for the auto. 164 fwkw vs 157fwkw usually comes out at 115-125rwkw vs 105-115rwkw on dyno's. |
