i went to see 2 el xr6 cars today 1 had climate control and the xr6 badge was on the glove box and the other had it on the dash same as ef and no climate control .... but both registered at 1997 el
apart from ford is there anyway to tell if they are both el xr6 genuine cars ?? |

You'd have to contact Ford to be certain, anyone could mock up an XR6 pretty easily. They have the badge on the glove box if they have a passenger air bag and on the dashboard if they don't. Fairmonts & Fairlanes don't have any badging and only Fairmonts & Fairlanes came from factory with the digital climate control but it could have been added in by someone.

so its a fairmont done up as xr6 .... thats an easier conversion than adding climate control |

It looks like a EL XR6 with a EL Fairmont GHIA dash conversion
If it was a Fairmont it would have power windows, Fairmont Seats and Door trims Only viewing from my phone so can't give you more details

model code on compliance plate should read 18735 denotes XR
