No worries Cliff, as I said before the radio is yours.

If the dam is shut, what are some alternatives?

We could go to Springbrook instead? Bit more of a drive but quite nice?

So all we have to do now is wait for confirmation from Craig (Woody) that the roads to the dam are open. Once that happens I will type out the itinerary for the evening so there isn't any confusion as to what is happening.

Surfers cruise and a catch up. O yeah thats all apart of having fun and getting to know the crew!

Never been there either, its the destination that has been raised so its up to the fellow cruisers to have their say

Yeah Springbrook is really nice.

So how does a cruise to Springbrook and then down to Surfers to a McCafe for a chat and food afterwards sound?

If so....

Maccas Springwood 2:45 for a 3:00pm depart

Movie World Carpark 3:30 for 3:45 pm depart

As long as it takes to get to Springwood at about 4.30ish for a chat and some photos.

Once we are done there, cruise down to Surfers, at a leisurely pace however long it takes.

Find a McCafe and chill out.

What does everyone think?

CliffM, will that be too late for taking decent photos at Springbrook?

As The Monty said earlier in the thread, "Bring UHF radios to keep in touch, they are greatly handly.
Make sure your cars are roadworthy, check your tyres and brakes and fluids before leaving.
This is a cruise organised on the forums, so no silly behaviour, otherwise it will most likely be reported and you will most likely be banned.
Thats about all, make sure you bring water to drink, and a good attitude".

Daniel

That was well said Dan, That sounds great.
Maybe the ones at the end who want to go to the drives in can?

UHF a must i think.

I think a mac cafe at Harbor town could be a good spot plenty of room to catch up and have a feed.

Thanks Craig. Harbour town would be good, for the carpark size of things.

The Drive In is always an option too.

Here is the timetable...

http://www.drive-intheatre.com.au/

The first movie does start at 7.15pm, so that might be an issue for those that want to go, but that can be discussed on the day if need be.

Not sure about the light at Springbrook, never been there, it depends on a lot of different things but with some luck it will be perfect. Sunset is always a good time for photos, I will have a good quality flash so it doesn't really matter, and anyway, we have ways to make cameras talk.... ;-)

Southport Carpark is always a good place to park, the one on the beach across the highway from Australia Fair, lots of room and an easy walk to the shops, no doubt a Macca's around there somewhere. Nice scenery too, with more opportunities for photos.

So can I clarify things? The brisbane crew are meeting at Springwood, then going on to Movie world carpark?

Is it still cool if I meet you guys at Nerang, I just couldn't be bothered tripping up the highway then turning back around and tripping back down the highway past home again. Nerang is five minutes from here.

I don't see it is a problem meeting you somewhere along the way. Maybe you could meet up with us at the Robina exit of the M1, or somewhere around there.

especially if you have a UHF we can tell you when we are nearing nerang entry ramp or somthing

or even just park on what ever exit we need to take off the highway to get to springbrook or what ever it is called??

Ahh, well I've never been up that way before, the Nerang road is straight on for me, I don't even get on the highway, and it seems a lot more twisty (Nerang that is) so I can't convince you guys to go that way? It's a fun drive, more fun on a bike, but still a fun drive...

Only one difference, that is the Brisbane guys turn off at Nerang, and we take that road from there. If the Gold Coast mob are agreeable we can meet the other side of Nerang and hook up with the rest of the run there.

We will make sure we are in the left lane, and will probably slow down abit. If you pass on your mobile phone to someone via PM, Im sure a passenger in a car can call when we are coming up to the onramp.
