Default KH Laser 93 AC probs

Hi,

recently bought a 93 KH laser auto, engine runs well except that when the air con is turned on the engine revs high and I can feel accelerator peddle pushing in by itself.... any thoughts of what would cause this?

Thanks

Assuming its carby, not EFI. There is an idle up mechanism on the back of the inlet manifold towards the passenger side. Its a 2 port vacuum diaphragm that controls the idle up for electric load (headlights etc) and also the A/C system. It is adjustable. Hard to explain without having the car in front of me. Post a pic of the inlet manifold from the LHS with the air cleaner removed and I'll point out the adjuster.

You'll always get higher RPM with the air-con on, it's the way the engine deals with the extra few kW taken from it to power it. Not sure if it's the same with newer cars but sure is with ours. Should jump no more than 100-150RPM though.
