Default Car Bra's - anyone used one?

So, I'm wondering if Car Bra's are a good idea. I did pick up a barely used car bra for my BF but have never used it.

The question I should have asked before buying it is ....
  • Are they any good?
Any tips from people who have used them before?
Do they do more damage than good?

I've had mine for about 4 years.

1. I think they're great and don't leave town without it.
2. Buy it from Car-Bra Melb. They really know what they're doing with fitment and give great service.
3. No damage at all. In saying that before I put mine on I make sure the front is clean, and when it comes off the inside gets hosed and brushed.

(I get rid of the bugs with Ajax Spray N Wipe )

I use a genuine Aussie made car bra on my Typhoon for long trips. No damage to paint etc, in fact it's protected the bottom of the FPV bar and taken the scrape a few times saving the paint, as well as a few big stones.

Things to keep in mind though, keep it very clean. If you go through a lot of dust, get the car bra off and wash it and the car. Dust under the contact points is what scratches (as long as the microfibre backing is in good nick).

Also those hooks at the top edge that hook over the front quarter panel, if you can (or want) get some paint protective film and place a strip there for extra protection.

And my golden rule is, make sure there's plenty of wax on the paint.

I'm no expert, but this works very well for me.

I'm a believer in: "stone chips are the best trophies" and "paint is cheaper than car bras". But I can also understand there are those that like original. So it all depends on what your hobby / collection is for and why.

Hmm, I'm off to Newcastle in the morning to pick up the next daily and drive it back to Adelaide ..

With this advice I guess I'll be taking my bra there too :-)

Thanks for the tips!
