Default Escort motor into mk1

I have put a 1600 711M escort motor into my mk1 cordy, the passenger side engine mount is nearly impossible to bolt up, so obviously I need a different mount, which mount do I need? Thanks in advance

I think you'll need a Cortina Mk2 1600 x-flow mount. The crossmembers are pretty much the same between Mk1 & 2 so that'd be the only different part between them.

From memory, this is correct and will work, did this when I was eighteen which is one hell of a long time ago, well into the last century.

A question: can I legally put a 2.0 ecoboost into a 1974 mk1 1300 escort.. N.S.W.

Hi,
do you mean subject to engineering report and inspection etc. ?

For sure no parts of the drivetrain of the 1.3 would match the power of your engine, so you would need to bring suspension and brakes up to RS2000 standard or beyond as part of your project.

(I have no idea about NSW rules).

Cheers,

I am not an Escort Mk1 / 2 expert, but have seen modification of MK2 being approved from 1.3 to full RS2000 spec, which required welding in extra brackets for the arms holding the diff in place.

First of all you need to ensure your shell has no rust. If the floor pan, inner sills, and outer sills are not in 'new' condition, then you will not get approval for increased power.

The engineer may require that you perform stiffness testing of the shell. It's where a moment arm is attached in the front, and the torsion of the shell is measured.

Cheers,

Which eco boost are you planning to use? from which model?
No such thing as RS2000 spec, all mk2, 2 litre cars have larger front struts thats all. Everything else is the same and transferable between Mk1 and 2

Might need to do some measurements first, from what I understand they're too tall due to sump clearance. Let us know what you come up with it'd be an interesting conversion if its viable.
