Ok, I don't own an EB XR6, never have and they dont rate high on my "must buy" list, but Im stuffed if I can understand why people like you especially (ie owners of FPVs and Tickfords) dont think it should be on there.

EB XR6 was THE first 'modern' Falcon to undergo ANY sort of performance upgrade, even if it was bugger all. At the time it was a major breakthrough for Ford and in my opinion it established the 6 cylinder market as we know it now - again I say that without the EB the Turbo 6's would never have come to exist.
What you need to remember is that a GT started out as a big fat Falcon on skinny wheels with a 289 engine - and evolved into what you drive every day with its modular V8, 6spd gearbox, brembo brakes and all the other gear. The EB was the start for XR6 and XR6T and for that reason alone I think it deserves recognition - because if we had never gotten the XR6 we would be stuck with V8's only, and had Holden come up with the Turbo idea first it would be a completely different ballgame.

Hmmmmmmmm..............and here was I thinking that the humble old XE ESP 6 and XE AIT turbo project was the precursor for the modern day EBXR6 and subsequent T6 brigade............how soon we all forget.........

Yeah fair points but AIT was an aftermarket company wasnt it? Im not up to date with earlier models and I freely admit that.

T3 TE50 and VT 1 GTS for me, the last of their incarnations.....both stroker versions of their bread and butter V8's and both torque monsters

I just think its evolution ..... happened with all models ....... 5 steps forward, couple back wards but in the end we all eventually ended up with better cars .... I just cant put the words E series and 'Muscle car' in the same sentence with a straight face! I also would say that you cant base a car being 'great' because it was the beginning of better cars?

Since it ran a fuel injected 250 with 4 speed that was the equal if not better than its 4.9 powered bigger brother..............

And since the AIT Turbo had a factory compliance plate by Ford and you could get parts for the XE ESP turbo form your local Ford dealer..........

If sports cars are allowed you may as well put the Chooklotto on the list.

And if the XA GTHO (4 made) can make it on the list then would that mean the HRT 427 Coupe (2 made) could make it as well? Hmm how about the Bill Bourke special? Leyland Force 7's? The Mystere/Recaro Torana Hatch?

That would be the Corsa Special Vehicles La Classe wouldn’t it?

Gee, you can get quite a big list going here.

As for the injected 250 being better than the 302, enlighten me please.

Certainly was..........Complianced by AIT with approval from FORD...........Correct me if I'm wrong...........

The Injected 250 was only marginally lower in torque output but due to its substantially lower weight was the equal measure of the 4.9

Torque: 325Nm at 2800rpm for the 6
Torque: 344Nm at 3200rpm for the 8

Completely agreed.

Others are great cars in their own right, but as said, muscle cars are definately a different era.

I too think the muscle car tag is over used. muscle cars should be loud and rough V8s or 6s with all HP and little finesse on traction control and electrics. otherwise theres a big category overlap with skylines or BMWs that gets too hard to explain. imo.

I own an ED XR6 (close enough to an EB XR6) and i dont think they should be on the list. Just because it started something does not qualify it as a muscle car, i think the ED sprint would be a much more appropriate addition...

I was thinking more along the lines of the ones already on the list, since they were listed as muscle cars..most of which arent really muscle cars by the strict definition, then again as said its all subjective..but a ralliart magna and HSV astra??

There are many cars that could have made it on the list... Wheels obviously wanted to mix in the new muscle with the old muscle..
Disappointing that there are no blue oval coupes though
