Lol. We had a new alarm setup in our new factory this week and the guy doing it told me tonight that the nsw police force are considering plans to have a quicktrak type device fitted to all officers belts. Half the size of a mobile phone with a panic button and full time radio tracking. Imagine if you could hack into the system you'd be able to know where every cop in the state was within 1o feet.

Note Quicktrak is not a GPS based system but a radio based one, GPS is ИИИИ. Drive a GPS fitted car into a shed/carport/underground garage and it's usless. He just saved me from waste'n a fair bit of money, i'll be calling quick trak tomorrow.

I use to have one fitted to my old XR6. They are very good. It just that i've been to lazy to get it fitted to my new car. In fact i think i get it fitted very soon.

Quicktrack has its faults... but its very hard to exploit them...

They have a great recovery rate

I've been in their monitoring room and
the diversity of recovered vehicles is amazing !

oooh... sorry

They have it now, the police portable radios (as well as the fireys) have a panic switch that essentially emits a beacon that can be trianglated.[/QUOTE]

QuikTrak is very limited in regards to area of coverage. When I enquired it was limited to Greater Sydney and Melbourne City area.
The bloke tried to tell me that people don't steal cars in places like Canberra or Jindabyne. Yeah right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
