Default How much have you spent on your car and do you regret it?

It crosses our minds all the time, but how much has your car costed you all up? Car, mods, rego ect.

I dread to think of it, so i added everything up from recepts last night.
Mine has cost me just over $9,000 all up, not inc petrol, which i thought was pretty good to look at where my car is at at the moment.

Are you happy that your hard earnt cash went into your car or do you regret being bitten by the mod bug?

Lets share our thoughts.

Car - $6900
Exhaust + Extractors - $1,310-
Leads + Plugs - $100
Sound System - $3,500
Tyres - $1,000
Alarm - $300
DBA X-Drilled & Slotted's + pads - $384
Clear Side Indicators - $28
K&N - $80
XR6T Intake - $35
Bit of 3" Intake - $60
Services including transmission servicing - $1000
CAPA Flash Tuner - $460

That's about as much as i remember:

Total: $15,157

Plus insurance, rego, petrol, the weekly/fortnightly washing regime...

Probably be over $20,000

*GULP*

Give it another $10000 and it will be worth it

I've had the car since Jan, 2007

Would not change a thing Modding the broom broom keeps me sane in this world! As long as i dont touch my house deposit money, i am happy! (Have been more than enticed to spend $50k on the AU, lol...)

Can't wait til i'm off my P's and get my strengthened auto + supercharger or CMS 4.8L (or BOTH!) + 4.11's

Got 6k saved up for it so far.. Probably about another $6k

Definately doable seeing as i have my P's for another 18 months Although i'm sure i'll find other minor mods to keep me entertained until the big day comes

Who honestly ads it up. I have built a couple of awsome machines of the yrs and have never even thought of doing the maths. Do you work out what ya kids cost or what ya wife(until you get a divorce....normally over the car) or ya pets. In most of our cases or cars are a major part of our lives, mine is part of the family. If I had my way the lounge room would be big enough for the car as well. And yes I know I'm :

Ive spent plenty on my cars in the past. Ive sold them now and moved on.

Do I regret it? No. I have had satisfaction and enjoyment from what I have done despit not having anything to show for it now.

True, I was just curious as to what he's done to it. I bought mine 2 years ago for less than 10k, and considering his age I doubt he's had it much longer.

ps.Are we talking about the car in the avatar pic or the gold AU1 fairmont anyway?

Cheers mate, I appreciate your help. You didnt need to go to that trouble.

But one things for sure, I will never set foot in that place again if thats the treatment you get.

Back on topic, if I added up all the mods I have ever done to all the cars Ive owned it would be well over the 20k mark. I view modding a car as a hobby. I get satisfaction making changes to a car to suit my tastes at that time. Its only a waste of money to those not interested in individualizing their cars.

Gee this is a tough one !. Years ago back in my 'teens' i spent close to $30,000 on my XE falcon doing it up, I had a great time with it and all , but after years it fell apart (like all cars do when treated hard and not looked after like a baby), and after that I 'sorta' relized what a money pit cars were. But looking back now, I'm still trying to tame myself on the idea of turning the XR into a 1/4 drag car, the money spent on them is a killer , but the fun had is priceless.
