Default auto momo shifter????.

Hi guy's, yesterday I finally bought a blue/black auto momo shifter for the XR8, I put it on today and I've noticed that the original button that I used does not sit in snug like it does in the plastic shifter, the area for the button in the momo shifter is larger, has anyone noticed this and rectified it by putting in a sleave or something, any idea's????.

The chrome button is the same size as the black/grey buttons, so it won't make a difference.

I made a sleeve out of the old shifter to fill the gap on my old XR6, haven't bothered on either of the current AUs - you don't even notice it after a day or so.

Im gonna have to buy a Fairlane shifter just to get one I think, sounds extreme but I know ill be bitching about it until i get one so i may as well bite the bullet. can always sell the leather shifter to recoup the cost too.

Yeah mine's the same but you learn to live with it. It's no drama really unless you're particular and it bothers you that much..

Ditto to that....

So you finally found a black / blue. Did you get the metallic blue or sky blue?

I didn't need a sleeve in mine ... didn't notice any difference from standard to the MOMO. The chrome button is a nice finishing touch ... thanks JC

Try rat global on ebay. If not, then look at roman autotek (which is rat global) at autotek.com.au.

I solved this by using a O-ring over the button. You may have to try a few different thickness ones until you get the right one.

Yeah the button is seperate. Chrome spray isn't really chrome finish though, its more sparkly silver. I reckon you'd be able to take it somewhere and get it chromed though for a lot cheaper than what ford charge for a whole shifter and chrome button.
