Default Petrol price jump

Not exciting news, but anybody notice 98octane jumped from $1:44 to $1:76 on weds/thurs this week? Seems a bit steeper than usual.

I pay $1.29 for diesel in the South Burnett. Unleaded is usually about the same price.

Yeah, I pass the same petrol station every day and it was a $1.29 for a while, then Easter holidays came up and it jumped up to $1.42 in one day. Gets me how they get away with that crap. I have only been doing $30 splashes until it comes down again.

The oil companies don,t give a rats ort as far as prices go,they play the game with us,charging whatever they like, whenever they like. Buying $20-30 at a tme doesn,t faze them either because they know you have to buy it at whatever price they see fit to charge.

How come the high prices seem to alternate between Syd and Mel? Went to Syd last week and 91 fuel was averaging 1.25 in Syd, whilst the same 91 fuel was averaging 1.45 in Melb

Our local Bp is always dearer than its competitors, i haven't used their juice in a long time & wonder how much more business they would garner if their prices were the same as its local competitors?

Caltex imo is a good comprise between quality & price atm for me, though we havent seen any big rises lately in petrol price but we pay a slightly inflated price all the time anyway.

cheers, Maka

I'm back at the mercy of the price cycle having spent the last ten years on LPG.
It isn't such a drama getting cheap fuel early in the week but with the k's I'm doing a tank lasts 6 days which throws it out of wack. I find myself doing a splash and dash towards the end of the week. I wouldn't be worried about a couple of cents but it can drop up to twenty cents overnight and thats a saving worth the messing around for.

I found NE country Victorian BP usually cheaper for diesel than the others but couldn't use their bowsers due to those advertising plastic boxes fitted on the nozzles. My trucks have side skirts where that plastic box wouldn't fit through the opening.
Diesel was hovering around 1.29 there when I left.
