Question 71-xy/07-xr6

The quest is to convert the xy using the xr6 donor , has anyone ever tried to Swap the body’s instead of transplanting engine, running gear ,ect ect

We did a Range Rover 1997 and put a discovery 6 engine in it , bmw 5 turbo , air bag suspension new dash with 7 inch tablet , new loom other bits and pieces . This will be my first xy project

Original idea was to put in a Cleveland 302 that was swapped for the twin v that was in the Xy , then with 91/2 diff and c10 Tran but found crack between 2 cylinders on Cleveland and with a xr6 sitting in the shed thought I would try and find out just how hard it would be .

there is a post where an ef body was put onto a xy frame somewhere have a look for that tthread

Try looking in the Project section. There is an XW Ute with a turbo Barra.

Engine swaps are a big enough project... but

The XR6 uses a full monocoque chassis you cannot just fit an XY body to it.

add to that the cars have different dimensions and wheelbases. the only common factor is the Falcon name.

Nice idea but No.
