It does'nt need any repairs its just that the tint is really badly bubbled up.

It would'nt pass RWC check you can barely see thru the back window.

Thats why i'm getting it all re fitted plus it will look much better with new dark tint anyways and new paint job anyways.

I been using my old heat gun just on half heat setting and my new hand scraper to scrape up the edge of the tint before peeling it off.

Got half of the rear window done this morning but its quite awkward in the back seat and rear parcel shelf so i had to have a break.

Its definately all coming off.

Will be finishing later this afternoon.

Obviously you want the old tint off to replace it,but as an aside the rear window isn,t a RWC item if you have 2 exterior mirrors. You dont have to have an interior mirror either if you have both exteriors, look at utes and vans etc

I have heard of people on a hot day get black plastic and tape around it to trap in the heat, that heat softens the glue and you can get it off with less damage to the heating bars.

This also works with stickers on windows.

Edit:
Found video that dose the same

Part 1

Part 2

Holy **** what the hell is in that 409 Chemical they used????

Now that is the way i should have done this!!!!!!!

Had to remove the rear parcel shelf this arvo to get right down behind the middle brake light and bottom edges of the glass to use the scraper blade.

Got most of the dry glue off just got a bit more to scrape off then i'll need more 'Goof Off' ($12) to clean the rest of the residual glue off with a clean rag.

Thanks for that Sprinter O.Z....I'll never forget that awesome trick!!!!!!!!!!
