Senior Systems Engineer.... bit rich being only 26! I'm not Senior damnit! Though I like the Senior responsability and take home pay

I'm currently doing all sorts of capacity planning and migration stragegies for a Finance and Insurance company for the Asia-Pacific Region. I've travelled to Japan twice this year and will likely to go again at least once more, and go to Hong Kong or mainland China late this year or next year.

Also working on server and platform consolidation as well as proactive maintenance stragegies for the multiple platform types.

Its a lot of meetings and planning documents but its a nice relaxing life. I rarely take work home with me at nights...

I'm finally back in a job where I don't take work home. I used to manage a helpdesk, now I'm back working on servers and desktops.

Start off by doing a SNAPS (School Based New Apprenticeship) at the start of year 11, After that I earned a Cert III in Netwrok Admin, and am doing it part time (well...not really, 10 hours a week) during school and full time during the holidays

Seeing you are what 17?, and have done, lets face it, nothing with your life, your role as "Network Administrator" *Queue Trumpets Flare* I find a little difficult to believe. Does one PC and a Palm Pilot constitute a network now?

Cool, with that logic I was a golf pro!!!!
Hell, I worked part time during school and full time on the holidays when I was 17 at werribee park golf club in the pro shop! I used to sell stuff and change the pin positions at the end of the day.... your logic means I could call myself a golfing professional!

nothing wrong with 17 year olds getting good paying jobs,
im a 17 year old chick , started a traineeship at the start of the year already with cert II in Retail ,Cert II in business , and just completing cert III in Business Managmentk, just so happened that i work in tourism at a maritime musuem run by the city council, assistant manager reisgned and i have taken on her work load with also my own and the only tech support for our main system used for our whole department, 'economic development'.
i personally think that i have done well for someone that is 17 and been on their own for over a year now.
so all i have to say is be PROUD

What was wrong with the Army? (Apart from being shot at.... : )

I am trying for the Army Reserves as a medic, and then Charles Sturt Uni to do Bachelor of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) Hopefully then get a job with a State Ambulance Service, and stay in the reserves to supplement the rubbish income that ambos get for all their work.

Ditto that. I am 17 too. I left school end of term 1, year 11 - because it was a waste of time and money. I bludged for 3 months, then did Cert. III nursing, bludged for a further 6 months and now work as a customer service agent earning 35K a year. (not huge money I know, but pretty damn good compared to what others my age are earning)

I am also an Advanced Life Support qualified volunteer with St John Ambulance, and a Village Firefighter qualified Firey with the NSW Rural Fire Service. In my 6 month bludge period I also founded an organisation that recruits young people into youth organisations, which is now a government supported volunteer business of which I was President until my recent withdrawal due to (paid) work commitments.

I'd say that age has nothing to do with success. If you have goals and knowledge, you can do whatever you want.

I don't do any work. I am at work now, have been all day. I work in center that doesn't get any customers due to the post-pone-ment of the service. I get paid to sit at work and spend all day at a lightning fast computer, surrounded by the georgeous young creatures of the female variety that work in the call center, and go on FF.au all day!

I have been here 3 months now and haven't attended a single customer!

I love my job!

Everybody does!

It does get deathly boring sometimes though. Theres only so many flash movies and games you can sit through... and porn is strictly forebidden...

I'll bet! That sounds like a very cool job (don't mind me, I'm just chopper obsessed)

Sea Kings are schweet...
