What's the xr8 worth?
Is that money going to be out to good use?
End of the day it is only a car....u have 4 others and 2 bikes.

I'd love an el xr8 as long as its not green.

Do you need the coin?
Can u not afford to keep 5 cars and 2 bikes?
Ifu can't afford them all then sell something.
If u can afford them all then there's no problem

Weigh it up, but honestly in your circumstances I dont know if losing an EL would make much difference? I mean this in the nicest way, but they're not exactly worth millions, so would it really make a difference to the situation?

I am lucky with my wife, both of us are pretty well on the same page with things. She doesnt understand the 'car' thing and I dont think she wants to, but she knows what it means to me and she knows why the GT is in the shed, and more importantly she knows that unless our back is really against the wall, it'll never go anywhere either.

If there is no other practical solution, sell, but you are not going to get a tonne of coin for the EL no matter how nice it is.

If your back is REALLY against the wall, makes sense to either get rid of the most valuable car, sort the problems that need cash and complete the unfinished cars OR flick all of the least important cars and keep the one you really love.

In the last 3 years I have sold a Robnell with 406ci Windsor, an XWGT manual and a VH R/T E38 big tank...all were long held, all had different strengths, all hurt bad, I was never leant on to sell the cars but it beat 100 hr weeks, sorted some major issues to finish a house/grow business/educate kids and simply made sense. I've still got a mint X308 XJR (370hp S/C V8)to sell (78K km) once my new daily is ready. On the upswing is now having some capital to finish a dream car project, retain another collectable that is now more regularly used and be in line for a new XR8 daily. Viewing letting them go allowing me to experience new ones in the future made it easier.

All 1st world problems really.

Ha ha ha LOL. Everyone is different and it is of course up to you to manage your marriage as you and your partner see fit.

I see marriage as two people that can't live without each other enjoying life together. It's an equal thing. If I expect to keep the cars I want (and I do), then it is only fair that the wife gets to buy what she wants too.

Had to sell two falcons in the past, one because of money issues and one because of money issues, yea I was an idiot but I'm only half as idiotic now so that's progress. My point is I absolutely had to sell them and I regret both sales everyday, so if you don't absolutely have to sell it I'm betting you'll regret it even more so.

If it's in excellent original condition with low klm , can fetch anywhere from 8k on the low side to 10k on the high side.

If your marriage is worth less than that, keep the XR8.

Good advice, just register it for 6 months at a time when you feel like driving it. Road worthy is only $80 to $100 and it cheaper than paying $1000 a year to drive it. Even cancel the insurance, just make sure it's secure by pulling out the ecu and keeping it locked. There's no cost to keep it this way.

I sold my BA XR6T that i bought new back in the day. Priority being the purchase of a house, and it was eating up $1500 per month in fuel, repayments, insurance etc. Sold it, got a normal falcon and saved the deposit for the house in a year. Bought a house, and since then i've lost count of the amount of toys i have had!

I considered selling the GT just to get some funds back in the bank, but the mrs wouldn't let me... she knew how much i'd regret it down the track, god bless her! I don't think i would have put it on the market, but it was nice to know that she doesn't mind it sitting in the garage. It's only done 2000-3000km in the past 8 months

I guess if i ever needed the money, it would be the first to go though.

If you don't need the cash urgently, keep the car.

I got sick needed the money so had to sell my xe esp and au xr8 ute have been spewin ever since but needed the money cause I couldn't work need the money for bills and medical treatment being sick is very expensive. unless you need to sell don't

Ive had this happen in the opposite direction, in my young married days my wife had just paid off her first good car, a 3yo 98 magna advance which was really nice. But as a man of the house type I "encouraged" against her wishes to trade it in on something smaller and economical, you know more like a car that a wife should drive.
BIG MISTAKE, she never let me live it down as she wasn't ready to part with it, what I take from this discussion, that no one should be made to sell a car unless they are truly ready.

All I can say is if it's a car you really like to drive, clean and polish wether its a Ford Prefect or a GTHO keep it cause 10-20 yrs later you will be kicking yourself. 25yrs ago my misses got me to sell my XBGT coupe for a station wagon and I've regretted ever since.

that was in 2007, its 2015 she wont help me on any other car but HER 38 ford, she is Kicking her self for imposing the policy and blaming me for following through on it

unless you have no ware to story it and need the money NOW, id moth ball it.
