Question Expressions of interest

I have just had a phone call from the guys from the Coastal Cruisers, a member of theirs recently took a trip to the Gold Coast and found an event that happens there every month on a Friday night, and he is trying to do the same for Port Macquarie, and has asked us to see if our club is interested. He is trying to get together a gathering of cars on a Friday night from around 6:00PM through to 9:00PM, Everybody that is interested or owns a car that he or she feels that fits in is very welcome to park their car and open the hood, there is no restrictions on what car it is or what badge it has or how many wheels it has, and you do not have to be a member of any club to attend. This is an opportunity for people to come down and park their car and get to form new friendships and view other cars ect. The Harvey Norman complex has been approached and they have agreed for us to use the car park, AUTOBARN and the fast food place has been approached and they are willing to keep the shops open till 9:00PM. The local Police have been informed and they are willing to be on our side at the moment, and they will be keeping an eye on us so we can eliminate the Hoon factor. More discussions with the Police will be had, so they can have more of an involvement in these get togethers, as all it takes is a couple of bad eggs, and then these get togethers will be stopped. These events in QLD attract plenty of onlookers and attention. The ground work has been done and car clubs have been contacted, now we just need to fine tune a few details and get other ideas from people that would attend this event and stitch it together and get it happening. it would be great to get ideas (good or bad) from others so we can iron stuff out and see what sort of attendances we would get before we try and get it started.

After talking to the other car clubs last night and Rick from Autobarn, we will be kicking this event off a lot sooner than i thought. By the sounds of it, everything has been sorted and just a date is needed, will keep you updated.

By the way the organizers were talking, this was months off, but after talking to them again on Thursday night, its only weeks away. Whatever is mentioned in here will go back to the organizers through our club. Our club has no part in the set up of this plan, but we will have a huge input of the organization of it. Now is a good time Brian. :

Sounds like a good thing for the area.

We in The GT Club started a similar event at Harry's Cafe De Wheels in Liverpool, Sydney.

We started off with just 6 or so guys and our GT's, now some 14 months later we have built it into a chaotic Muscle car, bike and Hot Rod fest every last Saturday of the month.

We attract at least 400 cars every month.

The owner of Harry's Cafe De Wheels is so thankful for what we have established that he is now a proud sponsor of The GT Club and even wears our club shirt while serving!

Harry's closes at 1am, but we tend to stay until the early hours of the morning, the vibe we built up about the place is contagious

The cops also leave us alone, because the hoon element is non existent.
They respect us because we behave, but that's not to say no one does nothing either :evil3:

That is what the organizers of this is trying to achieve, i for one would love to see this idea work, and sounds like you guys have it sorted. No matter what you try and do, you will always attract the idiots, but after finally meeting the organizer face to face last weekend at the hot rod show, its how you deal with the idiots that turn up is how successful the event can be.

Well guys and girls, the 12th of March (Friday) will be the first run of this event. Autobarn and the food place will be staying open until 9:00PM. This event will now be held on the 2nd Friday of each month. Start time is 6:00PM, we dont care what car or vehicle you own, this is a time for everybody to come down and get together on a Friday night. All the local car and bike clubs will be notified, and posters will be put up around town to let everybody else know.
