Thumbs down how low can you go

Just spent the morning at Pedders finding out how low the Zetec will be with sportsryders as the car looking like a 4wd at present.. $600 bucks for 35mm. Anyone out there put coil over adjustables in, these guys reckon i'm looking at $2000 to $2600 for these. I was hoping to come down 50-60mm, any ideas??? Booked in for Tuesday, I guess beggars can't be choosers....

you dont need coilovers to go that low

you could probably get them to do a 50mm drop for the same price, after all, all theyre doing is replacing the springs

id probably be looking at at least 45mm myself

I spoke to GT suspension, they stock/fit lovells, Koni, you name it and they also said that's as low as you can go without a custom set up ($2000+). Apparently there is not enough travel left in the suspension if you go lower than 35mm. They offered a lower price on the springs, but the Ford service dept have recommended Pedders so i think i'll go with that.

Personally I wouldn't touch pedders. I have eibach springs that give me a 35mm drop still using the OEM shocks. And they make a hell of a lot of difference. Recommend them to anyone. I get a very controllable understeer when I accel out of a corner. Its interesting that Ford here recommend pedders. Ford Euro recommend eibach and if you order eibach springs from them they are covered by the ford warrenty as long as they are fitted by a ford dealer. Spax also make a 45mm kit for the fiesta haven't used them personally so I cant comment on what they are like. Did I mention I love my eibach's :P

I got em as part of a UKFN group buy. Can't remember how much I payed but I remember they where 100 pounds for em which at the time was the cheapest. Eibach has a branch in Australia http://www.eibach.com.au/ I'm just about to contact them if i can find their email address to see if they have any plans to make anything else for the fiesta. I'll ask em for prices about the pro-kit springs.

Had a look i at Eibach, but i think i'll take the easy option. Is your avatar a photo of your car. If it isn't is there anywhere i can see a photo of yours to see how it looks dropped 35mm.

The car in my avatar isn't mine but it is sitting on eibach springs with 18" wheels. This is my car http://www.eurofordclub.com/php/details.php?m=oxyg3n.

Edit just found this url with very early pics of car from my avatar.

I wouldn't use pedders either, too many bad jobs through work, I bought some 35mm lower king springs about 3 months ago, still trying to find time to fit them. Tried somewhere like Fulcrum suspension? I've never had any dramas with them.

Got her lowered yesterday, at Pedders (shock, horror), not quite as low as i hoped, but the thing handles like nothing else. It's lost all that body roll that's been making my woman car sick, but it is a bit harsher over bumps. Ordered a BMC air filter today, got my clear flashers and she's booked in for a 2" cat back exhaust tomorrow morning, not bad for only 1500km on the clock.

Sun Ex performance in Sunbury.. PH: (03)97444000 they'll send it out by courier same day for about $161.30. Make sure you order the right one. I can tell you it's not the 101/01 as i already got that and it doesn't fit. Real pain in the ***, especially since i've got the BMC sticker on like a tool with no BMC FILTER IN THE ENGINE..LOL. Nice one..

$280 at Tru-Fit. Good luck, I'll borrow a camera and post some picks of mine..
I'm not sure of the part no. i just gave them the measurements the second time approx- 170mmx215mm ... They'll know. tell them it's the same one as Aaron who ordered the wrong one (ask for Brent)

You think thats high, they started off wanting $603 to $715 depending on it needing a camber bolt, but i got a quote from the other side of town for $505 and they're good blokes there so they came down.
