Default Double din headunit? Pics?

Hey guys,
I am looking to upgrade the headunit in my AU Fairlane to the Alpine
IVA-W502EV.
I assume they fit OK as the stock headunit is huge! My main problem is due to the curve of the centre stack. Has anyone fitted one of these units successfully so that it looks like its from the factory? Thanks heaps guys as it is shitloads of money to spend to bugger up the appearance of the interior.
If anyone has pics of aftermarket double din units in their AU show em off here
Thanks.

If you do buy one either bite the bullet and get a good brand Double otherwise just go with the single and pocket.
I put this in the wagon after a cheap one from hong kong decided to start doing its own thing...... the remote, volume and touch screen eventually started to pack it in.

It was purely to show what aftermarket facia kits are available at present... the single pocket (as featured by another user), or the pocket facia kit... neither of which are for double DIN H/U's, but do however fit in the allowed space (not double din standard)...

The rest of my posts are purely tongue in cheek and up to par with most of the other posts made within the AU section (even in my own thread from other users)... i just wanted to fit in...

give it a rest girls, Blueprint, you just wanted to show off your stereo, admit it and leave it at that. Mont5.0 quit bitching about people posting off topic, in doing so you are just contradicting your self.

Guys .... no need for it.

There's already breaches of the forum T&C in here.
The OP is after information about double-DIN headunits/setups ... I'd hate to kill the thread and lose that information.

Mate, all I can suggest is when I was looking for a double din for my AU XR6 Ute, they are left behind by single dins, so I went with the single din and a tray underneath. I'm not a Boom Boom bunny, but the XR8 I have now has an expensive set up (Who cares what people want to pay!) and I'm again running a single din.
Just food for thought mate!

I am pretty certain i will get the headunit now. I cant believe someone can airbrush woodgrain to that effect. It looks like it is stock from the factory. Damn that is good!!! Keep em comin guys.
Thanks, Pete.

they guy that did the airbruashing, by memorie has been painting/air brusghing for around 15 years and did serveral coats and tries to get it the same texture as the woodgrain in the interior.

i must say how ever if ur more after a Stereo install that is maint for sounds eg, bass treble, comps etc etc id try and stay clear of double din player due to most of them lacking some key features that are standard in 99% of single din players theses dayz for exapmle a few come out with no Sub gain controls or AUX out for that matter besdies extra Screens.

but if ur after a more standard stereo install looks good and sounds good, the doubles are the way to go, but in saying that i have a sub/amp running of my DVD player and get a fair bit of bass from the set up.

more a personal choice then n e thing i guess, hope that helps

P.S damn it! i missed the fighting haha,

cheers

Thanks for that guys,
I am really just looking for a setup that has great quality resolution and great quality sound, not so much into the doff doff as i was years ago. But yeah i can see what you mean looking at the spec sheets.
Just gotta get one to fit in properly now!

The Alpine unit the OP is thinking of getting is very well featured too. I'm pretty sure it does 99% of everything the Alpine single din units do

yeah if you get the lower range double din units they probably lack features but when you get a good one they have everything and more

hence the crazy price tag of some

Hey guys,
A bit of an update. I can get the Alpine unit for $1599 (a saving of $300). For another $600 i can get the bluetooth adapter and reversing camera and steering wheel controller (a saving of $200). That is installed but i think i will get just the headunit for now and then buy the other parts as i go. Does everyone think that it is a good deal?

from the sound of it most of the top end doubles have just bout everything you want, the sony ive got in mine is so busy at the back with pre outs/ ins ect its borderline ridiculous.
Im not sure about the price on that headunit but i paid $600 second hand for my one have you tried looking for a newish second hand one? $1500 i reckon is a lot of money to spend on just a headunit no matter how good and well it sounds, just think of the other stuff you could get for your car with 1500 anyway up to you mate
