Default Insurance renewal time

It's that time of year again for me and I'm definately not going to renew with my current insurer (Swan Insurance).

Anyone got any ideas for a decent insurer? We're in Vic.

I'm over 30 and are rating 1 with a no claim bonus. Mr's is the same.

Here's whats happening

$625 02 Astina $625 (from April 05->April 06)

They now want $692! Which is just BS.

My 97 was $41.89pm Now they want $47.22pm! WTF!

The day for coincidences.. we are currently on the phone to Shannons to see what they are like and have so far put our commode to them at a substantial saving over our previous insurer.....we are currently investigating what the deal is with the XR8.

edit... the XR8 is more expensive... go figure.

No you don't. I used to pay top dollar with RACV. When some pricks ran into both my cars. My cars were returned with trims falling off and a crappy paint job. I could have painted them better myself!

Commercialisation = bad. Competition = good.

At the moment AAMI seem the best at around $530 for the Madza. Not sure on the EL yet.

but brenx thats the repairer not the insurer, if that happens take it back til its fixed or report the problem and have them investigated, BETTER STILL GET A POLICY WITH "YOUR CHOICE OF REPAIRER" and this shouldnt happen!

I did that it was like nail diarohea to a wall. I got no where fast. So I let my feet to the talking and walked. Within a week my cars were no longer insured with RACV.

The EL is dearer with AAMI by $2

Shannons insures the XB. These are just stockers (ИИИИters as I call them). Nothing fancy about them hence why I use generic insurers.

Yea but brenx if you add them all to shannons you get it alot cheaper as a package i have all 3 of my cars with them and its also easier only having 1 bill to deal with.

1 bills a pain. I like to spread my debts over the year and not all in 1 month. If everything came in at the same time I'd need around $1500-$2000 for just insurance.

Might try shannons just to see if they are competative on stockers?

Hey brenx ever heard of pay by the month (no extra charges at shannons for this) and even direct debit its easy you dont have to worry about a thing.

Shannons want $884pa for the Mazda. Bugger that, don't even pay that for the XB! they don't have a listing for my EL.

Brendon will you listen to what people are saying to you. Put all of your cars on the one policy and pay buy the month. I have the XR and the Fairlane on the one policy with Shannon's and it works out to $57.40 a month. The will also cover Stephanie for no extra cost while she is on her L plates. Our excess is rating one at $400.00.

I doubt shannons can shave more than 30-40% off their premium for the mazda and falcon. I can save myself $300 just by not using shannons as an insurer of the mazda. Who needs discount?

For Shannons to be competative on the mazda they'd have to reduce the premium to around $550. A whopping $354! If they cost $192 more than my current insurer. I'd hate to see how much more they are for the EL.

AAMI might get the Mazda for insurance and I'm not sure about the EL yet. Shannons keep the XB insurance wise. They are well priced in that regard.

I shop around every time renewal is due. I have heard good things about Shannons, but they always quote me 50% extra, I have heard good things about AAMI, they refuse to insure me ( I am 30, no claims, no offences, rating 1, with XR6T, no mentioned mods) and besides the RACV, whom I have never had issues with, found any other insurer. Just Cars is Just A Joke......... they should be sued for the way they advertise their insurance!

You do and usually all you need to do is return the car back to the repairer. Unfortunally the insurer has no control over the repairer, although they would like too.

So by changing your insurer was not directly a fault of the insurer.

Also RACV insurance don't advertise, they don't need too. Only membership advertise!! Different company.

If you sign the release for @ the panel beater it basically says you've accepted the quality of the workmanship. Unless there is a major fault you can't do anything.

To describe how the paint looked it was orange peel dimply where they repaired. About a month before I traded the car the clear coat started to peel off. That paintwork was around 2mths old. I'm glad I traded sight unseen! It was repaired by a major repairer here in Cranbourne too. I'd never recommend them to anyone. I hate owning a smashed car hence selling it so quickly after the accident.

As RACV offer a life time warrenty, even if you accepted the car at first, you can take it back anytime for the life of the vehicle with you.

Is the repairer on ARUNDEL ST?

Yes. Worst bit was they took longer to repair it than it would have taken if I'd have dropped it off @ the RACV care centre in Moorabbin.

Hey brenx cant see how it can cost so much for a mazda unless theres something on them that cost shiit loads to repair and as for an el falcon must have a listing its just a plain falcon nothing special. You dont have heaps of fines , a bad record or live in a crap neighbour hood do you?

It's to do with age. If I was 40 or over my premiums would drop. I had a massive premium drop when I turned 30. I tested what the premiums were if I was 40. The drops considerable.

So far I have well over 8 quotes per car and the price variance is quite substancial. All three cars will cost me around $1500pa insurance wise but if I was stupid that figure could rise close to $2200pa.

The only options the EL has are CD player, tinted windows, Ming protection and alloys (ANZ wheels FTR copies).

The options the Mazda has are tinted windows, Ming and roof racks.
