Just on comparative weights

Ranger Raptor Crew Cab.....2,404 Kg (5,288 lbs)
F150 Raptor Super Cab.......2,511 Kg (5,525 lbs)...2013 Steel body 6.2 V8.....2,772 Kg (6,100 lbs)
F150 Raptor Crew Cab........2,589 Kg (5,697 lbs)......(no Raptor Super Crew in old steel body)

The US F150 Raptor gets close to Ranger Raptor thanks to its lighter Alloy bodies.
That old steel Super cab F150 raptor is massively heavy, a bit like a Landcruiser,
could you imagine what a dog the old 5.4 3V must have been in the first of the breed.

At the end of the day, does it really matter how Ford test their cars? They presumably tested the Focus RS to within an inch of its life, passed QC, and it still had engine niggles in the real world. Internal testing != real world abuse. All you can do is trust that they've covered most eventualities, and if problems do arise, they respond appropriately. If the engine's being rolled out to other vehicles, I'm betting the engineers are not concerned.

100% true doesn't matter what make, they all claim to test there vehicles to the moon and back and yet mum doing the school run can have major problems within the first 100 000ks

I don't think the raptor motor will be any more reliable in the real world than the one it replaces or its competitors. But the rest of the ute should hold up better to rough off road treatment than the others.

Let's hope that Ford has learned its lessons with the RS 2.3 EB as that different
block, steel crank and forged rods is being used at a lower level of tune in the
coming US Ranger...

exactly, hence my earlier comment re how about we hear from actual owners now, not those claiming to know how brilliant it is but don't have one or work for ford.

real world owners opinions to me mean more than ford staff or raptor fans who have seen it or test driven it, love to hear how they are once the honeymoon period is over.

On an 18 day test is the fuel fed into the engine as it's needed? I assume a fuel tank wouldn't last for anywhere near that long.

Yeah the fuel lines are tapped into an outside fuel tank.

I just fueled up my little diesel work van before, put 55 litres of diesel in it and was $91 for 1,047 km.
Just my opinion but if fuel prices keep climbing, those with diesels will feel much less pain than petrol.
Ford's use of 2.0 litre diesel in Ranger Raptor and new Endura is probably the right engine for the times.

where I am Diesel seems to keep going up, well above unleaded at the moment. - makes little sense to me

Prior to the recent hike in petrol costs, diesel is nearly always about 20c dearer than regular unleaded here in Adelaide. Now it's about on par. 750km still costs $100 in the territory. (Ave speed 45)

Picked it up yesterday.

Already has 150Km on the clock. Avg fuel consumption is 15L/100KM. Heavy traffic run for 30km included. Ive been mainly in sport mode as "normal" feels sluggish. I like the lighter feel of the steering wheel in normal though. I always switch Start-Stop OFF. All the time. tomorrow I have a freeway run of 50Kms or so - will watch fuel consumption then.

Manual states "Baja" mode is for offload use only. Is that for mechanical limitation reasons or in the interests of safety?

Raptor doesn't have ambient cabin lighting per Wildtrak. Ill be changing puddle lamps and interior lamps to LEDs. The standard lights are crap.

In Sport mode the Raptor is responsive and VERY fun to drive. Like an enclosed quad bike! Definitely feels better performing than PXII XLT at least in the suburbs. Caveat: Max speed so far has been 80KM/H.

Seats/cabin comfort are SUPERB.

Very happy and definitely NO: buyers remorse!

Yes, TC and ESC are slackened. Its Fords way of saying "you have been warned" so you cant sue us if you stack the thing.

Same thing when Track/Race mode is selected in the Mustang.

Yes well in VIC My fill up is now often over $100, what makes that more annoying as I have to put my pin number in..

It will take a few thousand km's for the engine to break in and the economy to improve. Some guys I know initially though the economy of their Rangers wasn't too good ,but once it gets over 5000km it is much improved.

Diesels tend to take a bit longer than petrols to break in.

About 300km on the clock now with some freeway driving.

Sport mode is default for me with Auto Start Stop OFF.

Total average is around 12.0l/100KM, including the very heavy traffic in first 150kms. Last 100kms or so I've been getting around 9.0l/100 with a mix of light traffic suburban and freeway driving.

Very pleased.
