All the "men" outraged by this and posting about their outrage on the internet, probably wont be recognised as men in the cafe and not get charged the 18% anyway.....

Rating meaningless now, most of the posts are trolls for both sides.

It's just a novel way to donate to womens services.

I agree BTW, that at risk men are under-represented in general.

Ahh, the ole Medicare straw man.

Perhaps we should ask the starving people of Venezuela what their thoughts are on socialism? Or maybe even the family of Charlie Gard?

I'm sorry LeadFoot81, but I must disagree with you on this one.

I think what superyob (and many others) are riled up about is that at some point, feminists stopped being pro-equality, and started being misandrist. This is one silly, trivial example, but some of their agitation has caused a lot of pain for men. The family court system is one thing that springs to mind.

If the owners of this cafe believed in equality of the genders - however many there now are - and want to do something positive for women's charities, that's marvellous - why not charge all patrons a little extra? I understand why you might feel the way you do about this issue, but you do realise the gender wage gap is a fallacy, don't you? Women do tend to earn less, but that's not because they are paid lower wages. More women work part time and take time away from work to look after their families.

Don't have to pay the tax if you refuse to go there.

If the pay gap is a real thing why isn't every company hiring as many women as possible.

Apparently the pay gap is due to men working longer hours, more likely to have a full time job over part time and willing to choose a career with hire wages over women who are more likely to choose a career they enjoy even if it pays less.

You're making the mistake of believing feminism was ever about equality. You don't see feminists in the USA advocating for women to be registered for the draft to go along with their voting rights

Perhaps I should have clarified - second (1960s) and third wave (2000s) feminists, certainly not. I do have a soft spot for the suffragettes of the 19th and early 20th centuries, though.

Look- a man tax is small price to pay for being a man.

Walked to Tasman Peninsula Cape Huay with wife in January.

Over the 5 hour walk in heat I drank lots, and when need arose stood on side of track and whipped out old slanger and relieved myself numerous times and kept downing the water.

Wife who was moderating drinking cause she had to go out in bush for privacy had an epiphany and with some annoyance when I again whipped it out nonchanantly for another comfort release on side of track snapped :

Its so unfair- it must be so good to be a man.

Being a bloke with some things sux like fixing plumbing and doing the crap jobs in roof/under bearers/joists, but all up its a good thing

There's a bit more to it than just unpleasant jobs around the house.

More likely to be murdered
More likely to be attacked randomly by a stranger.
More likely to die at work.
More likely to receive a harsher sentence in court.
More likely to commit suicide.
More likely to die from war.
There's many more things too. Some are trivial, some are serious.

However it's not a competition, men have it better in some areas and women have it better in other. If people want proper equality you have to look a bit deeper than just virtue signalling with a fake tax trying to make up for an earnings gap which is disguised as a wage gap.

Ben- I was being tongue in cheek.

Agree with all you say- I just like the simplicity of not engaging in intellectual reality but rather picturing this scene when thinking of all those crusty man hating harridans- you cannot do this (picture standing and having an piddle) cause your equipment is not engineered to do this at all
