Default Verification letters from ford?

Has anyone else tried to get a verification letter from ford lately? I’ve tried back in November and again recently and got the same reply both times.

In other words, "we upgraded our system and lost the data on what cars we made in Australia, and because it has nothing to do with selling Ranger's made by slave labour in Thailand, we won't be bothering to reinstate this service, Kind Regards, Ford Motor Company of Australia Pty Ltd."

My favorite one was when one of our other members contacted them about a verification letter, then they responded telling him to wait a few months as they're doing something, then a few months later he follows up and they tell him they no longer provide verification letters

They probably updated their ERP and suddenly none of the old **** works anymore.

Yeah that was probably me DFB. I have them for my FPVs but my dad was wanting one for his Territory Turbo Ghia. Can barely get parts anymore which is more worrying.

I'm trying to get the build list for my mk2 Escort so I can make sure any work I do to it is in line with the factory spec... Colour, trim etc.

It's a 1979 Rally Pack and as far as i'm aware it's in original condition with the exception of wheels.

Is there anywhere else I can pull this info from?

They probably got tired of everyone getting build sheets for their standard E-Series falcon, hoping that they can claim it's a 1 of 1 with this spec because of the combo of colour, wheels, audio, trim etc.

Most of us would be happy to pay for the service if it was reasonable. ($30.00 with a nice ford thick piece of paper that was accurate?).

I reckon $50 delivered via express post nationally and it's on Ford Australia letterhead with a signature, on a thick card, kinda like a certificate.

Absolutely. I don’t mind paying for the service.

I can't help with build numbers but may be able to help with options lists and other general specs to do with the Rallye Pack. What do you need to know exactly?

Either that or try to get a hold of the 'Spotlight on Ford Escort' book, long out of print but they do come up on auction sites every so often.

All I have to go off is the VIN CK4PWK74298R, engine number is the same as the VIN too.

I’d like to confirm that it is a rally pack, not just a 2L 4spd that someone has thrown stickers on. And I’d like to know what the paint colour was/is so I can match it with touch ups.

There should be 2 plates in the engine bay, one will contain serial numbers the other vehicle codes, heres the info relating to that

As for The Rallye pack ID, as an option it won't be listed on the plate, best way is to check the suspension. You mentioned in another thread you were going to slam it so whilst the front springs are out check for paint smears on the top coils of the springs, this will ID the sports suspension and therefore the Rallye pack option.
It should also have a rear swaybar, only available on the sport suspension models.

Between your info and this site

https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.a...identification

I'm pretty confident it's a Rally Pack.

I won't be dropping it, so can't check the top of the springs, but there is a 12mm rear sway bar is fitted

Model Code: 11937 - GL sedan 2L/4Spd (12/79 onward)
Paint Code: 9 - Sno White
Trim Code: B - Black
Engine Code: J - 2L 2V High Compression
Transmission Code: V - 4spd
